A7N8X version 2.

Do any one now what is the difference beween A7N8X version 1.04, 1.06 and version 2.0? The ASUS web site indicates that the new BIOS for version 2.0 is not backward compatible to rev. 1.0x. I will like to buy the A7N8X and the local vendor (Directrom) have it for $122, but is version 1.04. Will this be OK? Do I miss something if I don't get version 2.0? Please advise.

From readin that post, most people there are saying how the current nForce 2's won't support the 400Mhz FSB.... But if you read this, you have to feel that current boards will only need a bios change. What I think is happening is that the 2.0 revision is just to be 400Mhz compatible out of the box while the rest will need to upgrade...

Then again I don't work for Asus, nVidia, or anyone else at the moment for that matter :frown:...

I thought the current Nfrc2 mbrds did support 200MHz
Certainly plenty of people are running at these speeds

Heh, those guys are all charged up over nForce2 ST... They say it comes out in Q3 2003... Well, my Epox 8RDA+ POSTS as an NFORCE2 ST. What's the big deal?

nForce 2 G + Gigabit LAN... this is definitely piquing my interest for office usage! :Q Particularly since nVidia is likely to build that directly into the southbridge, leaving the PCI bus free for my SCSI card

I confirmed with NVIDIA a few weeks ago that all nForce2 boards support 400MHz FSB Athlon XP processors (Barton) with a simple BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer. Therefore, I doubt the A7N8X rev. 2.0 is anything special in terms of support.

Thanks for that info ,I thought that would be the case but its nice to know.................mind you I'm still somewhat confused ,many people are running 200MHz FSB now with current bioses!.Maybe the new bioses are purely for choosing the right XP number?

So what are the differences with v2.0?
