alright, i am thinking of getting the asus a7v133 mobo tomorrow (probably the version that does not have the on-board audio, if that is available). anand has certainly given it a good rating. but i want to know if anybody who owns this board is having any problems, compatibility issues, etc.? i don't want the k7tpro2-a episode repeated all over again. i realize that only a few ppl will have this board at this time since it is rather new. but, i am still hoping that those who do will provide some feedback. so, send in your response. i'm waiting.

This motherboard still uses regular 133mhz sdram not the new DDR. I would say it is still very overclockable. I'm considering getting this motherboard also when I get enough money.

You set your fsb bus speed in the bios you can set it from 100 to well over 150. If you get some good pc133 ram you should be able to reach almost 150Mhz. In order to do this your processor must be unlocked because you will have to drop your processor multiplier in the bios.

and which power supply? do lemme know. i have a PS that is only recommended for processors at 1000 Mhz. or below on AMD's website. do you think that is going to really affect the overclocking abilities? i don't plan on overclocking much anyways. maybe like up to 1050 or 1100 Mhz. (I have a 900 Mhz. Tbird). do u think i would have to get a new PS for that?

Pyramix - sorry it took me so long to reply.
1. I have a A7V133 and its running fantastic. My 1.2 gig thunderbird is running at 1.5 gig (10X150). Gets really hot. Core voltage @ 1.85.

2. I'm using the Alpha Pal6035. What a pain to get on. Chipped 2 corners off my core getting it on. I'm never taking that thing off. Using Arctic silver heat sink compound.

3. Western Digital 13 gig Caviar. 7200 rpm. No compatibility issues.

4. As far as power supplies go - Mine exploded a couple of nights ago. It was supposed to be a 300 watt supply but when I opened it to see what gave up the ghost it was actually a 240 watt. See my power supply thread here. Power supply problems.
I did get a new one at a local shop yesterday and everything survived the incident. I should have bought a good name brand but I couldn't wait a week to order one.

I also had a huge ordeal getting the Pal6035 on my A7V133. Took me about 15-20 tries to get it on, but the first 15 were learning where to apply the pressure so I didn't damage my fingers anymore. I'm wondering if I should take it off to reapply the arctic silver, but I'm pretty happy where I am in my overclocking.

I had one overclocking issue where I thought (incorrectly) that game stability was related to overclocking. I tried to reduce my settings to 6.5*133 instead of 7*133 - machine wouldn't post (usually and previously it had reset itself and used working defaults when my overclocking attempts failed). I had to use the jumpers, boot up, go online, and figure out how to reset the CMOS.

Other than that, no major problems.

Hey, Darrin, if you're reading this thread, PM/email me info to overclock the Gladiac!

Not sure of the correct way to explain 4 way memory interleave but on VIA chipset boards it accounts for a boost in memory performance... I have read about it somewhere and seem to remember its like pipelining the memory 4 ways instead of the reg 2??? Someone correct me on this if need be... Kinda like the difference between a Geforce2 MX and a GTS...? BTW on the A7V133 issue check the "rig"... (buy it, no regrets)
