A7V8X - LAN not detected

I have an Asus A7V8X and when i installed Windows 2000, the onboard Gigabit LAN was not detected.
Windows only detected 2 identical PCI devices in device manager. I am not sure whether this is the Network controller or whether there is a problem with the motherboard. I tried installing the LAN drivers for these 2 devices but windows would refuse and left them as unknown devices. I have downloaded the latest VIA drivers and bios so I am sure that is not the problem.
These are my specifications:

Athlon XP2100+
A7V8X with onboard LAN and SATA
Radeon 7500
Creative SB Live 1024
20GB Seagate Baracuda
Toshiba DVD drive
ASUS 52X CDROM drive
350WATT ATX case

Make sure that the LAN (both of them) are enabled in the BIOS. If they are not, Windows will not find them no matter what you do.

they are enabled in the bios. Windows will still not detect it but gives 2 unknown PCI devices instead which cant have drivers installed for them.

put in teh drivers cd, and install all the drivers available onthe cd (or atleast teh nic ones)

does that work?

also, isnt ther just one onboard NIC?

I realised that the IRQ of the two PCI unknown devices was 9.
I looked for other devices with the same IRQ. I found that the Microsoft ACPI device was also IRQ 9. Could there be a conflict between these 2 devices. If so can you give me instructions on how to change the IRQ of the 2 unknown PCI devices so that they will be recognised in windows as an Onboard LAN chip, which is what it is meant to be detected as.

I have the same board. You have to load the software for the broadcom network card to work. When I installed my mobo I had the same problem.
