A8N Premium problem

I'm having a big problem with my PC.

Configuration: WinXP, AMD 4000+, 7800GTX POV, Asustek A8N premium, Raid 0 raptor, 2G corsair.

My problem:
I installed my PC and it booter without problem. But after about 10 minutes on XP starting to install softwares I got a beep code error (a low beet followed by a high one) corresponding to a CPU heating problem.

I checked the CPU with AI booster and it the soft said that it was under 40°. I stopped the PC to check inside it: everything was fine (and after rebooting it I saw every fan working well).

I checked in the bios: Chipset temperature is stable around 48°. A technician told me it was high but maybe he is not aware of the temperature of this A8N which uses a heat pipe: would be helpfull to have some informations about that from other A8N premium users.

I decided to let XP run and I kept getting the beep code warning whereas every temperature was well in the green range (even for the nVidia).

I started to get some strange bugs like when a CPU is messing.

After about 30 mins my video crashed with artefacts on screann. I rebooted: I had also artefacts in bios. So I checked with another card: the artefact disappeared but I had still the beep code errors in windows.

So I have a PC that has destroyed my first video card, that could have destroyed my second video card if I didn't shut down the PC and all that because of a heat problem that come from nowhere (each temperature indication are fine, execpt maybe the chipset temperature according to that technician).

What can I do now ?

What power supply are you running in that computer (brand/model)?

This may be the source of your problems.

I'm a Antec Smartpower 500W.

Double check the installation of your cpu/heatsink and run the case with the side panel off. Thats strange if it is beeping and only that hot. I wonder if it is really hotter than that?

I have run the case with the side panel off and the problem was still the same.

I had the opportunity to try another 7800 GTX on my PC and the artefacts disappeared but I still could ear the same beep code error (so now, at least, I know that my video card is destroyed and that I need to change it..).

While I had that functionning 7800 GTX, I dediced to reinstall everything (software and hardware) and after the boot the beep code had disappeared...WOW: the PC worked for more than 10 hours in full charge and I was so impressed by the performances.

BUT today I booted my PC and after 10 minutes under Windows I go the same dreadful sound: beep code error (low/high pitch).

I'm KO...

Nobody has an idea ?

Maybe it is the 7800GTX overheating. Or maybe the additional power connectors for PCI-E aren't connected properly.
