a8n-sli bios update problem

i have a a8n-sli non-deluxe mobo and I updated to the 1008 version. I used EZ flash to update my bios. Once it finished updating, it rebooted and went to a blank screen. i tried rebooting and i still have a blank screen. The file i downloaded from the asus website is A8NSB008.BIN. Does somone know if there's a way I can 'roll back' my bios version or if there's some way for me to fix this blank screen problem?

Sorry to tell you this but it looks like you uploaded the wrong file to your BIOS. Effectively make the board trash. You can get it reflashed at a hardware shop but it costs $$$. BIOS files are usually the bios revision folowed by 2 letters. Like my A8N-SLI Deluxe, the 1007 BIOS file is called "1007sd.bin".

It looks like you can pop in the Asus driver CD and it'll boot up a BIOS recovery program. Give that a try.

i tried that. nothing happens. my monitor is completely blank at start up. =(

Did you format the floppy before you did the EZ flash? You have to be careful with bios flashing. The file name is correct because I got an a8n-sli (non deluxe) too and everything worked for me. It seems like your failing the POST test because the vid card's bios always loads first, then the actual cpu bios. If the screen is completely blank, then something mightve gotten messed up when you flashed it. If I were you I would take out one of the cards out of your system, flip the selector card to normal mode and see what happens. In 1008 they added a new SLI option and that might the cause of the problem. Also just try clearing the cmos as maybe some setting got messed up. Hope this helps.

i formatted the floppy correctly and everything. I also took your suggestions and cleared the cmos and flipped the SLI selector card. nothing. I think i'll have to go find myself a new board =\

That's your best bet. RMA'ing this particular board took me 2 months to get a replacement. I bought a new board and sold off the one I got from RMA.

When booting to the Asus CD you must hit ALT-F2 to enter the bios recovery
