This doen't work for me. I can only have one set manual.

At least you can select sli. In the bios if I even select the SLI Config it locks up while in the menu.

How do you manully set everything in the bios. Seems if I change memory speed above DDR400. Jumpfree config all goes to auto. If I manually set jumpfree memory goes to auto.

I don't mind using AI Booster everytime but the system doesn't like presets. You must step it up in baby step. It doesn't like everything at one time...

This was the case with all bios releases...

Well I tested out the final release for BIOS 1003.

I tried to see if there was a possibility that I would be able to go above 240mhz 1t 1:1 w/ 1gb of TCCD memory.

I initially set my timings to 3-4-4-12 1t at DDR 400 ( 1:1 ) 2.9v to make sure that latencies weren't holding me back.

I first tried 241 and it seemed ok. I thought I would try a Bigger jump and boosted it up to 250mhz with clockgen. Within about 30secs I got a BSOD (i was only runnign a web browser and windows media player with an mp3).

I went into the BIOS and set my VDIMM to 2.65 and my CPU voltage to 1.5v I booted into windows and it got as far as the login screen before it said there were some corrupted system files... DAMN!

I rebooted and now my DiamondMax 10 SATA drive is gone (although my other SATA drives were still there)

I changed my mem back to 2.9v and tried rebooting a few times with no luck in detecting the hard drive.

I flashed back to 1002 and am now able to see the drive and boot fine (there are no corrupted files, i think the memory was erroring out at 2.65v which is weird...)

I flashed back to 1003 and it can still see my NCQ Maxtor DiamondMax 10 whioch doesn't have NCQ enabled btw...

I will test to see if the Drive disappears again, but I wanted to post before hand...

anyone having a problem with their optical drive not working?

I have the sli board from asus and everything is finally up and running but when i try and load a game or some application and i put the cd in the optical drive( I only have one.) it runs for a minute then turns off. I can still move information from the cd to say the DESKTOP or another folder. But, it won't let me open the drive. at first I thought it might be the app that i was installing but tried a few others and it stopped working periodically.

any reason for that?

I am runnign a fairly small psu(350w antec stock 20pin), but everything else works great. 3Dmark05 score of 2786, not bad.

Do you think this might be bios related.(i installed the new bios 1003.)

Do you think this might be driver related.(couldn't find new drivers for my NEC 3500A)

any help would be much appreciated.

Just a heads-up because this isn't in the manual:

When using the utility on the motherboard itself to flash (Alt-F2) a floppy drive is not required. If the BIOS is burned to a CD (use an -RW folks, so you don't go around wasting discs) the optical drive will be detected and used for flashing. I did this numerous times. I dont know if an exact drive configuration on the IDE is needed or not, and it may not work with SATA. I was running my system with a diagnostic boot CD and no hard drives to minimize power draw when I discovered this (due mostly to the flashing utility's inability to run in the DOS bootcd's I was creating). Hope that helps some of you that are getting burned by leaving your disks in history where they belong!

Just use the Asus Update utility in windows with the bios image on the hardrive. Instead of directing it to port to the web to look for the image, just direct it to the folder you have the image in. Flash. Then you have to reboot, enter the cmos setup, reconfigure your specific bios settings, save and exit. Much easier than having to use the boot disk.

Unfortunately FastEddie, the Auto Update utlility isn't working for us all I flashed to 1003.007 and now I'm unable to flash to Final since it keeps saying "Fail to reserve DMI data in EEPROM."

However, I hear the alt+f2 thingie works! I'm off to try it right now.

Anyone have a seagate or maxtor harddrive with NCQ enabled and working properly with this bios?

As far as we know they haven't fixed this issue. I have my Western Digital 74GB Raptor working with NCQ, but every BIOS up to the 1003.008 has corrupted stuff within 24 hours or so.

The list they gave out listing the fixes with each BIOS didn't say anything about having fixed this issue as far as I could see, so don't boot your main OS with it enabled.

I did the very same thing, JMag, and after primin few seconds at 250, 1T (3-4-4-11), I got BSOD... 245 was stable, though, but I keep it at 240 x 11 for now. Note that in all reviews I've read about TCCD modules - the conclusion was that it does not need over 2.75V. It should run at 300, 1T with no problem... so it's not the memory. I tried Kingmax' Hardcore ddr500 - that's able to go as high as 278 1T, and it's the same think with A8N Let's wait for another bios release. This one had a small oc improvement...

1003 Final is still a no go for me.

Upgraded the BIOS.
Rebooted. All was good.
Powered off the computer. Powered on the computer. All was good.
Played Wow. All was good.
Powered off the PC and went to bed. All was good.
Turned on the PC in the morning ... same crap as beta drivers no Maxtor on SATA1.

While i was running i did have some nice OC with my 3500+ running at TH&4x Clock x11 240fsb.

So back on 1002.

Sure it wasn't the "nice OC" clock that blew out the drive? Been playing with the 1003 since yesturday, seems to be pretty stable.

Come on guys, what "nice overclock" are we talking about ?
All other NF4 boards can do at least 270 1:1 1T, and we cannot go over 240 ?? This sucks!

Word. The specs above are pretty much the low end of a decient overclock. And yes , im sure its not OC related because when i flash back to 1002 it works fine.

Anyone else running a Maxtor dirve have this problem?

Yeah but the newer revision of the TCCD can and does like higher volts up to 3.1 according to the guys at OCZ. I know I don't really have any problems when I run at 2.9v... It really seems to me that each module can like different volts. Did you see the madshrimps review on all the tccd? They set them all at differnet volts cause they found that some provide better performance at wildly differnet ranges (obviously not BH-5 high but within 2.5-3.0)

unfortuantley there is really no way for me to test what is the best for my memory because I can't get it past the ~240 1t issue anyway on this board... It isn't as if it REALLY matter though cause I mean a 2.5ghz a64 with 2x 6800GT's really doesn't have any problems running any games or anything

I actually don't even push 240 right now cause my system seems to like 225-230mhz at 2-3-2-9 1t with a DDR333 setting so I can make up for the low multiplier on my 3000+ so my fsb is more like ~270-290

I had a similar test run to Fumunda, and I KNOW it isn't overclock which causes the drive to disappear, becasue I got it back with 1002, then I tred 1003 again without overlcocking and it only took a couple reboots before the Maxto DiamondMax 10 Sata disappeard from the list (while all my other SATA drives were still being detected)

I never saw that review. Which revision do you think I have in these Corsair sticks? I bought them pretty recently - roughly a month ago, and they did come that same day. I mean, I can't check them either, my coleague with his Epox nF3 Ultra could check it for me, but he's always kind of busy, so I won't bug him soon. When it comes to gaming - it's not all that matters, I mean I could have stayed at my Mobile Barton at 2.7 GHz and NF7-S 2.0, with X800 XT PE ICEQII clocked at 590/1180, and nothing would ever go slow, but it's different when you feel that satisfaction - "now I'm pushing it to the max" I wanna go at least 270 x 10 1:1 1T! That's all! Is that so much to ask?
Cheers, m8

Been running 1003 for a few days now - no problems. Fixed a few issues I had before. Things are looking good.

Yeah, but it didn't fix my Audigy issue (if it's not givig audio, I have to restart windows in order to make it work). But it always is recognized and "working properly" in device manager. I haven't tried running it in middle PCI slot. That requires uninstallation and new installation of audigy drivers and patches, right? Or can I just put it in the middle PCI slot...?

you just need to move it to the 2nd slot, but you will still have issues.

I got sick of it and bought a Santa Cruz. Everything is fine now.

I have the same problem!!! Went back to 1002 and still couldn't get my maxtor diamond max SATA50 200gb drive w/ 16MB buffer to come back on SATA1. I ended up connecting to ports 3 and 4 and reloading my system. Works ok for now. I thought that port 1 was bad, and have started the RMA process. But, sounds like it could be bios related?? Haven't heard of anybody else having this problem, let me know if you find a solution.

I have a buddy with one of these boards. When selecting SLI in Windows, under the nVidia drivers, it tells him that his secondary display will be unavailable, then it deselects the SLI option.

Will this BIOS fix that issue? I have seen other people complain of it, but nobody has come up with a solution as yet. Occurs with all BIOS revs up to 1003-005, 66.93 version of Forceware.

All the hardware is working just fine, a pair of MSI 6600GTs and so on. Any ideas?
