How did you even enable NCQ on your Raptor? There is nothing in BIOS settings about this! The ASUS rep told me it was enabled by default as part of the chipset, but I don't buy it.

The NCQ issues concerns all sata II drives at the present. It's not any better on any of the other NF4 (Ultra & SLI) boards that are out. It's a hardware function of the chipset that nvidia has to deal with.

However, a review of NCQ on Tom's Hardware on an Intel rig specifies that the drivers need to be there and AHCI or something needs to be turned on BEFORE OS is installed, otherwise no go later on. Think the same applies here?

It is enabled by default, when I checked my Raptor 74. But, since the Raptor only supports tcq, it doesn't make any difference in the speed tests I tried.

Updates in 1003
1. Re-translation item strings, value and help to French.
2. Fixed asus update 64bit OS fail
3. Fixed AMD Athlon64 CPUs Processor Family will be wrong shown as Opteron
4. Support nVidia DualGPU PCIE VGA card.
5. Change CopyRight year from 2004 to 2005.
6. Support PEG for ATI X850 PCIE card.
7. Modify Cool n Quiet string and default value.
8. Correct Hyper Transport item string for multi-language.
I think the most significant thing here is #4. Does this mean there are single cards which have 2 GPU's on them? Or does it mean they made some kind of fix to SLI support?

If it's nVidia's fault that the nForce4 boards don't work with NCQ hard drives then why does the 1002 bios seem to work fine with these drives? It seems like a bios issue to me....

The NCQ drives work just fine, as long as NCQ isn't enabled in Device Manager.

Anyone have a seagate or maxtor harddrive with NCQ enabled and working properly with this bios?
As far as we know they haven't fixed this issue. I have my Western Digital 74GB Raptor working with NCQ, but every BIOS up to the 1003.008 has corrupted stuff within 24 hours or so.
The list they gave out listing the fixes with each BIOS didn't say anything about having fixed this issue as far as I could see, so don't boot your main OS with it enabled.

I have the setup in question... Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250 gb /w 16mb and everything runs just fine....
So this issue might not be related just to that drive...as for single diamondmax10 combination it never failed to show up on post...
