i have an A8N-sli deluxe, and still have the 1004 bios. Is it necessary to upgrade the bios?
and if i have to, incrementally, or right to the 1014?
not sure what to do
No need for an incremental update, just download the latest upgrade to the latest bios. Don't forget to download the latest chipset drivers as per the warnings on the BIOS download page.
I believe Asus took the nVidia 6.66 drivers and modified them for the A8N-SLI series, releasing them as 6.65...the 6.65 drivers actually have a later release date than the nVidia 6.66's.
i have the 6.66 (hate that #) chipset drivers from nvidia's site, just did the ez flash (hit alt f2) and d/l he 1014. [first time i ever flashed bios] did it because i went from a ga-k8nxp and far cry played flawlessly, to the asus a8n deluxe (have to rma the gigabyte the ps/2 isn't working) and far cry is lagging terribly. the 1014 bios upgrade did nothing for that.
but the system seems stable...for now

Yep, same thoughts here, because looking at Nvidia's release history, I don't see any 6.65 version, so ASUS has definately modified them as Chuck mentioned.
