My chipset fan has been acting up a lot. It has always been very loud, loud enough to do something about but I just let it be. Next my PC would boot up saying somethings wrong with it. The fan failed to start and I worried. So I removed the cover of the fan (seems pointless) and it still made a lot of noise. Next I unplugged it and pushed in these two black things with springs. Nice one of them popped directly into my eye and almost blinded me. Unfortunately it would seem like the hooks in each of them have broken. I unscrewed the fan and clean it all then put it back in. I didn't use isopropyl alcohol or any conducter thing yet as I don't have any and I need to write you all this message. The fan seems a lot more constant now, it still seems to make a little noise tho, perhaps another go at screwing it to make it more centered, but I worry since the peg things broke the heatsink isn't on sturdy, and I need to reapply the goop. How can I get new pegs? I think I may just need a damn new fan/heatsink, which would be compatible with my motherboard that you suggest? I've never reapplyed goop or anything before, please help!
