Ok, ive had this board for about 6 months now (since it came out) and this has happened EVERY time. Im wondering if its happened to anyone else but me. Ive already RMA'd the board and they said theres nothing wrong with it so i dunno. The problem is that every time I restart, do a reset, or sometimes do a cold start, there would be a delay/lag before the POST beep, approximately 5 seconds. During that time, the monitor signal would get cut and the monitor would go into standby (light goes from green to orange). Now, my pentium II-266MHz with a TNT2 card in it doesnt lag at all while restarting, neither does my old AMD XP 2700 w/ Radeon 9700. I dont think this is a standard procedure of the board restarting. If it is, its a stupid one becuase 25% of the time, the system hangs during that delay and doesnt POST. I updated to 1011 Final but I got a BSOD before windows even started to boot. So I had to rollback to 1008 which I know worked. 1011.001 worked but 1011.002 didnt. Im also thinking that it may be a Gfx issue but I could be wrong. My system specs are as follows:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe BIOS 1008 Final
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester
2x Kingston DDR400 3-3-3-8 KVR400X64C3A/512
MSI GeForce 6600GT-128
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
Antec True Blue 480w PS

What ive done to try and fix this was try each stick individually, swap power supplies and boot with as minimal as possible. I dont know what else to do. I have already RMA'd the board and they said there was nothign wrong with it. Im not liking this becuase I BSOD on 1011, the internet craps out on the nVidia LAN port, and the delay/lag issue doesnt help at all. Anyone please help. Thanks

Im thinking that it could either be 1 of three things. Board, memory, or video. I doubt its the CPU and i really dont think its the PS becuase both of those are good. I sent a letter off to Asus and I should get an email back im about a few months. I ran memtest 86 for a few hours and nothing turned up. I even lowered the clock settings from 400 to 333 and even 266 on the memory and it still lagged. I believe I underclocked the CPU and it still lagged..even longer. I put in a PCI video card I had laying around and still lagged. So im thinking, unless I have another good PCIe video card that Ive seen work properly and put in in my comp, its either the board or the PCIe voltage to the card. Now, I dont know how to adjust that and I dont know if its a stupid BIOS setting i may have set not knowingly for it to purposly do that. Does anyone know of anything else? Does this happen to everyone? Is there a lag time while restarting so the monitor signal gets cut? Or does the monitor always get a signal the whole time? Please anyone respond to this question. I would like to know how your boards function compared to mine. Thanks.

Edit: Also, Can I put a connector in the Ez Plug for SLI even though there is no SLI? like extra power for the 1st card? or the the plug only for the 2nd slot?

... no problem using EZ Plug with a single card.... I do it myself...

.. as far as the post beep lag goes... sounds like you've tried most of the things I would have... But I suspect you may have a bios setting in there causing you some grief..so double check those ....

.. I wonder if a weak CMOS battery would cause the delay?

.. i would try to simplify the setup if you haven't already.. just run with a mouse, keyboard, monitor.. and make sure no other devices connected .. etc...

Ive already tried that, theres like basically nothing else connected. I even tried to boot up with as minimal as possible, CPU, Mobo, and 1 HDD, and Gfx card. It still does it. I should post my BIOS settings on here so you can see. Ill do that now

Sorry Im being so anal about this POST, but I just wanna see if its suppossed to happen. Anyways, here are pics of my BIOS settings. There are some stuff that arent here, so they are whatever default is.

Main
CPU Config
DRAM Config
PCIPnP
Internal Hardware
IDE Function Setup
NV Raid
SLI Config
JumperFree Settings
Speech Settings
PEG Link
POST Check LAN
Power
APM Configuration
Hardware Monitor
Boot Config

Please let me know if theres anything wrong. For the Jumper free settings, Ive tried all of the options, Manual, Auto, Standard, AI NOS and AI Overclock. I got those settings from a site that some dude said to try those for setting up the board. So I tried them and ntohing. Basically Ive tried the default settings, and nothing.

PS Sorry the pics are so big, I didnt have time to shrink them as Im busy here.

.. bios settings look ok to me.. with the exception of the PCiPNP category... under Plug & Play.. I think that should be set to NO.. If I recall correctly unless you are running a non-Windows based OS such as linux, this should be set to NO....
... will that help you with your problem? I have no idea.. probably not.. but worth a try...

I think I had this and if I remember correctly it was due to the setting of the select jumper for the PATA drives. I changed to cable select and then there was no delay.
