Hi, I bought an asus a8n-sli deluxe in december, and it seems to work great, although generic ram did better overclocking than my ocz el dc platinum pc3200 rev1 (which maxes at like 5% or something pathetic), overall not very good overclocking mobo or anything, but oh well im not TOO fussed about that, but the big problem is the stupid chipset fan. after about 30 seconds of running i imagine it gets a little warm over there, so it starts to turn a little faster, well the little bitch starts making a very loud noise, bareable, but when i spent 250 CAD on a mobo that was supposed to do all this stuff, but really turns out to just be a generic 939 SLI board, with a screaching fan is not cool. so what can i do? i've heard some ppl have even had these fans burning or something. do i need to replace this? should i contact ASUS? it doesn't seem to be an issue other than sound.

I had two boards - 1 for me, and 1 for a friend. 1 was almost silent, the other had a noisy-ish fan.
I swapped the fan assemblys over and the noise went away! Swapped back, and still silent. I believe the 'noisy' fan must have just been rattling a little bit - the screws holding down the cover aren't particularly well aligned.

Might be worth unscrewing and re-tightening forst off

Zalman has a pretty good passive heatsink, which works well if you have an airstream directed at the northbridge. Then you can eliminate the noise altogether.

I have a Zalman NB47J on my A8N-SLI. It works great. As long as you have good case airflow it's all you'll need. Did fine with my winnie oc'd to 2.3ghz too.

Your OCZ Rev1 is probably CH-5 chips. They can overclock pretty good but won't do to stellar on lower voltages. Mine did about 220 with 2.5-3-3 timings around 2.8v but that's it.
