a8n-sli "premium" edition

Its nice to see asus finally has some info on their site. The worst part is that they say its now available. Does this mean just to testers or do they actually mean available for us? I've been looking for it everywhere and can't find it even for preorder. I've never been this pumped about a motherboard before and asus said at computex that it will overclock as well as the dfi boards. I really don't believe that but who knows, maybe asus will surprise us.

Look a little further up the thread. I posted a few places that have it for pre-order. The asus post was just a news release. They don't have it listed w/ specs on their global site under motherboards yet so it might be a while before they're available, especially since they're just showing it this week at the computex computer show. But I think it'll be worth the wait!

When the premium becomes available, I would contact the RMA department and order the chipset cooler. It can't be that much and I'm sure it'll fit on a deluxe.

I was gonna get a Premium instead of a Deluxe, but I think it's maybe better to stick with a semi decent overclock for now (which more than serves me well), and see how Crossfire fairs...

ATI and Nvidia better let their multi GPU setups run on both chipsets, both setups are electronicly compatable wtih the eachother and only a drive limitation could hold them back.

Well, while ASUS says it's "available now," Eastluna.com has an ETA date of July 17th, and I checked with live support from Keenzo.com, and they said the date from ASUS was June 30th, but that since it is new, it could be sooner. They did however, say that their date is usually dead on, and very rarely slips.

Both of these places have it for a more reasonable price, of around ~$200. Still wish it was going to be in stock sooner.

Yeah I noticed the July 17th on Eastluna also. I'm hoping for June 30th but at least we have a release date thrown out there. Sitting here every day searching for a release date was driving me crazy, especially since Asus doesn't even know that their own motherboard isn't out yet. 200 is a good price. I'm so pumped for this board. I hope it overclocks as good as asus says it will.

Buy.com has now added it to their site as well. $194.99, shown as "out-of-stock." Kind of an odd description on their site though. I'd want to confirm it before I bought from them.

i think we will all remember this day for the rest of our lives (yeah right), ASUS finally put the A8N-SLI Platinum as an "actual product" on their global web site.

Strange, sometimes it's there, other times it's not. The first 3 times I clicked your link, it just had a '0' there. Then, it finally showed up. But after doing a refresh, it's gone again.

They must be updating the site, because now it shows up when you look under their motherboard section...

They haven't updated the USA site though.

Just ordered mine 2 day from east luna. I'll keep you guys informed on if its the heatpipe version or not. I emailed them before I ordered and they assured me they had it in stock but didn't know if it was the heatpipe or not. Hopefully its here by Friday.

Wow, I like their real-time stock updates. They had 18 when I was placing my order, when I checked back, it was down to 17...get'em quick, their selling like hotcakes!!! Noticed ASUS updated the BIOS again last night. Should be interesting to see what version the board comes with.

Not going to pull the trigger, huh? Their web site is the most up to date site I've seen on this motherboard, so if it's not the real thing, they don't have much room to talk. I also stated in the additional comments section, that they were the only site I knew of that had the board in stock, and if it wasn't the SLI version with the heat pipe, then I wanted to cancel the order.

I'll let you all know what I end up getting, but it probably won't get here until Saturday or Monday, since I went with Ground shipping...I'm not in a hurry to get it.

Yes, we do have the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard in stock. The warehouse shows they have around 150 in stock, so you should be all set. All we know right now is that this is the retail version of the board. We haven't gotten any concreate specs on the Premium board, so we don't know it this is has the heatpipe design because we haven't seen it yet. It is in a warehouse all the way accross the country, but it is in fact in stock at this time.

I got home from class at 3 pm and went to place my order and there were 20 in stock... this thing is gonna sell out by Friday. Anyone who wants it buy it now. Some other sites that had it in stock are now out of stock. I can't wait to get my hands on this board.

Everyone who gets it, please keep up updated. I'm dying to know if its the heatpipe version. I noticed eastluna changed the pic on their site for the premium to the heatpipe version from the original fan version so thats a very good sign.

Well, it will be interesting, to say the least. I just called ASUS, and talked to one of their pre-sales people, and they said they had no information on a board that hasn't been released yet. I said it was on their web site, and he still insisted that he had no information. I was going to confirm the UPC that Eastluna lists on their web site, but no such luck.

So, unless EL had some kind of inside dealing with ASUS, to get these boards before anyone else, I'm not real confident that I'm getting what I want.

The e-mail said they had 150 of these in-stock, so why do they only show 14 left? They just showed up yesterday, as far as I know.

Pre-sales Asus don't know anything. I contacted them about my Asus P5WD2 Premium motherboard and they didn't even know it was out either.

Well, that's "good" to know. You would think if they wanted to limit the amount of calls they get asking about new products, they would inform them, but then again, it was a long distance number for me, so I guess they don't care.
