I am at a loss at what's going on. For starters, here is my current spec:

Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe BIOS 1009
Patriot DDR400 2-3-2-5 1GB x 2
WinFast 7800GTX
Audigy 2ZS
Adaptec 29320 SCSI
FPS 700W PS
Maxtor SATA 300GB x2 RAID 1 on Nvidia RAID
WD SATA Raptor 74GB
Maxtor SATA 200GB
Fujitsu 15k rpm 18GB x 2 RAID 0 on Adaptec
Segate 15k rpm 18GB on Adaptec
Windows XP Pro x64 edition

The system will bluescreen with various errors or sometimes just hangs there. Most of the time this happens during a prolong game session (say about 2 to 5 hours into a game), but it can also happens within minutes after reboot, altho it is a rare occurrence for the latter.

Orginally the system was on an Asus A8N-SLI board. When I first encountered this problem I thought this must my power supply. So I switched from an Antec 550W to the current FPS 700W. No go. Problem persists.

So I thought it must be the memory. I switched the Corsair 512MB x 2 sticks out and swap in two new sticks of Patriot 1GB. Same problem.

Then I came to the conclusion that, it must be the motherboard as the chipset heatsink seems to be extremely hot. I switched from the A8N-SLI to the A8N32-SLI Deluxe. At first I thought the problem disappers, but no, it's still there.

What really bugs me is that the machine seems to be rock stable, even if I run distributed.net overnight. However, it becomes unstable when I start up a game. It will bluescreen in a matter of hours.

This bugs me to no end. I have no idea which part of my system is at fault. Overclocking doesn't seem to make a difference: I try to run everything at default and problem persists. In fact, the system seems to be stabler when I overvoltage everything and overclock the system to 2.4GHz. It still crashes eventually in a game, tho.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the driver, but I am not aware there is a hotfix from Microsoft.

Well, I installed Far Cry today and ran into some graphics problem where I got artifacts. However, I don't mind this as much as the other problem that popped up: reboots on shutdown. Everytime I tried to shutdown the computer, it just went into a reboot loop. The only way to shut it down was to hold down the power button. When I started it back up, it worked OK but I'm a bit leary about this board; it's bios, the combination of it and my dual core cpu. Not sure what the issue is. I might clear my CMOS and flash to 1009 and give it another shot (although I did have a reboot issue with it also). Failing this, I might just set it aside and go back to my A8N sli platinum with either the X2 3800 or a single core Opteron 148:frown:

I'm sorry, but how did you guys flash your BIOS?

EZ_Flash does not seem to work at all for me (Alt-F2 does nothing), and the 1 meg BIOS files cannot fit inside a boot disk.

I am having the same issues.

My Setup
A8N32
AMD X2 4400
Winfast 7800GTX
2GB Corsair LLPRO
2 x 74 GB WD RAPTORS
SB Audigy ZS2

I read on the net that people were having problems with the nForce network controller so I have disabled it in BIOS and am now using the Marvell Yukon. So far no problems.

I used to get BSOD after about 2 hours of Counterstrike, and very rarely a few minutes after bootup just like yourself.

Please let me know if you discover a fix or if disabling the nForce nic works for you.
