Hello,
I have a A8n32-Sli with two 74gb raptors and a 300Gb maxtor, two geforce 6800 ultra.
Amd athlon fx-60 and 2gb of corsair 3500LL.
I just bougth a Swiftech H220 APEX ULTRA PLUS wich comes with 1 waterblock for the CPU 1 for a chipset and one for the vga.
Since i have sli a got onther one for the other GPU.
My problem is where to put the chipset waterblock, as u know the a8n32-sli has a North And south bridge.
So wich one is more important???, Should i buy a second chipset waterblock or just forget about the chipsets and leave the factory?
Also iam not sure wich is the north and wich is the south chipset.
And if decide to watercolled either or both how do i do it with the current copper heatpipes?
one lkas thing iam not sure if one of the chipset can be watercooled because it seats underneath one of the geforce.
Lots of question, but no answers
PLEASE HELP....
Thanks

Wow, I have no idea what you should do. Are the heatpipes functioning that badly? If the FX 60 has a built-in memory controller why does the A8N32 need a northbridge?

First off thanks for the reply.
Actually i havent started installing the watercooling system but it comes with the chispset cooler so i thougth of using it.
I really dont know if the pipes are enough or not.
Do you think i should just forget about the chipset watercooling??

I've got a buddy with an A8N32 who's had it for maybe 4-months. As soon as I think he's awake I'll call and ask his opinion on how well the heatpipes work and get back with you.

i've had one for a long time, heat pipes work great. i rarely see nb temps over 30c. I have a good case with excellent airflow and i'm sure that helps a lot.

welcome to the forums rsb123
2 instances of prime and mine get to about 35-36 but if you feel like giving it a try by all do so (but the price you pay will be to keep us informed)KIDDING

My buddy, out of paranoia I think, keeps his side door open and points a box fan in. He also has a crap case.

If the board isnt inverted, meaning not upside down like some cases are now implimenting, the pipes should be good enough. My friend has this board and i helped him set it up. He went the asus route instead of the DFI because he insisted that dual x16 Pci-e was needed. But i would try to sell that chipset cooler on the FS thread and leave your heat pipes there.

The HS fins on the pipes are aligned so that a cpu fan will assist in removing heat. By watercooling you're going to be removing a significant source of airflow from the HS fins, and, depending on the airflow in your case, you may see some higher temps than typically reported from the a8n32 pipe setup.
But if you are planning on removing it, don't forget that it also cools the four little transistors (not sure if thats actually what they are) beside the mosfet heatsinks. I'm not sure how important that is, but it's a thought. Apparently, Asus thought enough of it to include an addition heatsink for the other four.

Just leave the NB and SB ALONE. Chipset coolers IMO arn't worth it.

Just use the attachable HSF that came with the mobo and plop it on the fins next to the CPU. Keeps mine cooler than my CPU fan did when I had air cooling.

(and yes, I have WC, same mobo, and SLI)
