My Asus temp control alerts me my Mobo is 55 degrees. I have a 3 fans plus the cpu opty 170 stock fan. Should I enable AMD quiet control? Q-Fan?

EDIT: Moved my HD to the highest slot, dropped the mobo temps down to 45C on idle. Still not in the normal high 30s low 40s range though. Still have my accelero x2 installed. Could be another factor.

See sig.
My mainboard temp is always ~43-44C. I don't use CoolNQuiet/Q-fan.
My case has 3 120mm case fans.
The Zalman blows air across the heatpipe radiator then out through the upper rear case fan.
I don't O/C.
My video card blows its heat out of the case.
My HDDs and PSU are isolated together in a separate chamber.

Motherboard heatpipes require very good case air-flow.

Should I buy a zelman instead of the opty 170 stock fan? I have 2 120s and one 90 fan. Should I increase the speed of the fans?

Not knowing your fan arrangement. I'd suggest increasing the speed of your intake fan and see if that improves
the heat issue enough.
On this motherboard, a Zalman 9500 draws warmed case air (especially from the RAM sticks) through it own heatpipe/radiator arrangement
as it cools the CPU and blows air through the mainboard heatpipe radiator before (usually) being expelled through the upper rear case fan.
I assume the sensor for motherboard temperature is somewhere near one of the chipsets.
Your video card fan may be dumping its heat near the sensor.
Increasing the force of your lower front cool air intake may help push the video card's hot air away from the heat sensor.
My card fan expells its heat directly out of my case.

Happy trailz,

I called tech support at Asus and they said to RMA the board. But the guy said he didn't know where the temperature gauge was??? There has got to be a corrlation between the video card and the mobo temp. Could the accellero be blowing hot air on the sensor? I just don't want to have to send in the board of all things! All I know is, whatver my GPU temps are, my mobo always says the same thing. Check out this newegg customer comment:

Pros: Very quiet cooler, load temps dropped by about 10 degrees idle temp identical.

Cons: Blows hot air onto motherboard. If you have a nforce4 chipset it will blow it right onto the northbridge cooler. Raised case temps anywhere from 2 to 10 degress C, even with 3 120mm fans and a slot exhaust fan.

Other Thoughts: Had to go back to the stock cooler due to excessive northbridge temps causing issues while gamning.

does the hot air damage the Mobo?

check your Floppy, Mobo can display 8-12C mor if not connected or not pin1 on pin1..check out planet amd they also have a thread on this... oh..and if you voerclock check your manual voltage setting... it can be up to 0.3 more then configured...

cheers

no floppy installed. What are the danger ranges for this board, how accurate are these temperature sensors? Where are they? Near my accelero x2 exhaust?

Ok, so I did an experiment:

Turned down the accelero x2 fan speed to almost nill for 5 mins. Mobo temps, only a 2 degree change. So maybe ut's not the accelero. So it's either: improper air flow, bad sensor, or cpu needs more thermal paste. I really don't think the board is that hot. I turn the computer off and touch the heatsinks. Warm. Not 100F.
