Opteron 144 @ 2808MHz 9x multi
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe @ 312FSB
OCZ XTC PC4000 3-4-3-8 @ PC4100 3-4-3-7.
EVGA Geforce 7800GT @ stock (for the moment)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

Whenever I click restart, it'll shut down, then just sit there with all the fans running, but with nothing happening, no hdd activity, no monitor activity, nothing. I have to go and unplug it each time and plug it back in to turn it on again. and also, it'll just crash randomly and freeze up and give me memory errors all the time etc. Instantly I thought "it's overclocked too high", but that's impossible because i've had it oc'ed at this speed since I built it and it hasn't started having theese problems since recently. Maybe my psu is dying? It seems impossible though I bought the whole computer brand new in january. I checked my temps and afaik they're ok.

CPU: 41C idle, 49-50C load.
GPU: 45C idle, 55C load.

And I just reformatted like a week ago too . Do you guys think you could help me out?

probly it just got over the heat limit, i mean its going into summer and hotter inside and just fried.

Since your getting a memory error, its probly the MEMORY swap out other ram and see it that works

Did you even run Prime95 on that overclock? Its proably an unstable setting.

Ran Prime 95 for 24 hours and it was stable, not to mention playing games and encoding movies and music for 5 months with no problems

Heat limit thing could be right, it is getting pretty hot in the room lately.

Well the memory does sound like a possibility, it's going to be sortof a hassle to get into my dad's comp though to get his ram out and swap it.

With such a highly overclocked machine, heat may be all that it takes to push it over and start giving you errors.

You can either back off your overclock, or you might want to try dangling an 80mm fan over top of your ram (since you're getting memory errors) and see if that helps.

Good luck, I bet it is just the heat.. that happens to me as well and I have to reduce my overclock.

You have the A8N32-SLI, which has a warmboot issue.

Anyway, you have to shut down. And then turn on.

It's the same on mine.

Restarting just results in a black screen; many others have the same issue.

You can lower your OC (& the warm boot issue will go away), or you can just learn to turn off + turn on rather than restart.

Also, if you're getting RAM errors, you need run things at stock & see if it's still erroring. If not, then you know why...

Yeah that's excactly what happens! I guess it's just my mobo then. It's not excactly a Ram error, it's just that in CSS and HL2 and a few other programs (my logitech G15 keyboard driver for example), it'll say (Memory at x7219837 block x182734 has encountered an error and needs to close). I made those numbers up, but that's the idea.

Sounds like your ram is overheating... although, many times when ram overheats your game will just close without an error.

Does your application log give you any clues as to what is going on when the game crashes?

WOOHOO! I am 99% sure i've found the problem! I remember I had tried to install the latest 5.0.4.6 ntune drivers in my computer, and apparently, it supporst Nforce4 SLI, not SLI x16. I tried to open it and the whole computer just locked up. I'm about to clean everything nvidia out of my computer and i'm going to reinstall all my drivers. I'm pretty sure this will fix it. The ntune seems to be messing with my ram timings in the background while my comp is running.
