I said this a long time before Jobs died, Jobs IS Apple. It will never be the same without him and they will not keep the trend going as Jobs did. Hell, even look at the new Apple commercials that they are airing during the Olympics, Jobs would never have allowed those to go on the air.

Near the end of Jobs' life, Android really started to dominate Apple in terms of market share. I don't think Jobs, nor any of his successors, can really stem the downward trajectory of the Iphone (and most likely Ipad) into the depths of pc versus mac domination. Hell, Apple has already let Google take the lead with developing wearable computers (unless Apple has been secretly developing something to compete with Google's glasses that we're all not aware of).

Proof? Sales slowed last quarter due to anticipation for the iPhone 5. They'll skyrocket again in September. Even then, the iPhone is the #1 and #2 selling individual smartphone and has been for years.

Comparing Android vs iOS to Windows vs MacOS is disingenuous. Never was there a time where Windows was completely fragmented the way Android is. Never was there a time where developers could not make money on a Microsoft platform.
So, mass adoption with regards to Android equates to next to nothing as there is almost zero correlation from device to device, OEM to OEM, and carrier to carrier. Android may have a pretty big marketshare but it's a catastrophic failure with regards to ecosystem and tying all together.

Yeah, Xoom, Xoom 2, Galaxy Tab 1, Galaxy Tab 2, Asus Transformer, Kindle Fire, etc. A long line of tablets were are going to topple the iPad and ultimately flopped. Nexus 7 is no different. A few million shitty $200 tablets won't put a dent in iPad's marketshare and if Apple releases a 7.8" iPad it's game over forever. You'd be better off wishing the Microsoft Surface topples the iPad because it has a better shot (if the price is right).
PS, because you're not getting it, MG Siegler is hedging there will be a 7.8" iPad and is trying to earn some goodwill by giving the Nexus 7 a good review so when he compares it to the 7.8" iPad he does not come off as much of a fanboy. It's pretty obvious.

As for the mockups, we don't know exactly how they're going to look, but we do know the dimensions are FUCKING RETARDED. Note how you can't don't defend the dimension because no matter how apple changes the color, whether it has one, 4, or no buttons, the placement of the volume rocker, etc. in the final product, it doesn't matter because the dimensions are absolute SHIT and whoever thought of that idea should be shot into the sun.
We do not know the dimensions. They're not published and all you have to go on are "leaked prototypes" which can be anything from hoaxes to Apple decoys. Even *if* those were the dimensions, why not wait until Sept - Oct before critiquing?
