Don't listen to idiots around here. They are anti-apple only because its cool to be.

They have their place.

As to the news, this just means its about time to buy some stock for when it skyrockets again.

There are many reasons to be anti Apple,

1. Apple over charges for products - the iPad mini charges $100 extra to go from 16GB to 32GB of storage, it really costs that much????
2. Steve Jobs is a dictator, or at least was in the past
3. The Patents wars, and even if you believe Apple is protecting themselves they are adding to the issue of patents in general.
4. Apple over charges for products

Personally i think Apple will be less of a factor in 10 years. It is hard to be an innovator on the long term and how can they keep changing the smartphone to keep people from buying them, other than upgrades to battery life and CPU/GPU increases.

Nexus 10 16GB = $399
Nexus 10 32GB = $499

Just saying, everyone has a marketing team in charge of segmenting their products and they're all out to make money.

Some would argue that you pay for more and get more. Some might say that the MacBook or whatever is better built and thats why they buy it even though internally they are the same as a PC, just more expensive. That isn't me, as I don't like OSX. However, I think iOS is a superior mobile platform. Assuming its jailbroken of course.

I like the feel of the iPhone in my hand. It isn't made of plastic. And until there is a good Android phone out there, easily rooted and not made entirely of cheap plastic, I'm perfectly happy paying more for my iPhone. Thank you for your insight son.

They pretty much invented the smart phone

They pretty much invented the MP3 player

They pretty much invented the tablet

Were they the first at any of them? No. But the magnitude of difference between any of them and the Apple device is staggering. The first iPhone was so far ahead of everything else, it was ridiculous. Same with the iPod and iPad. iPod is probably the most revolutionary, but the iPhone is very close.

MP3 players were already pretty good before the iPod came along. the iPod was just better, and apple had the marketing prowess to use that to great advantage. I'll give them the smart phone because the iPhone was pretty revolutionary in terms of user experience. The tablet was really just a natural progression from the iPhone. Apple innovates yes, but people give them too much credit on that. I won't say whether or not they can continue the success they've had in the last decade, but I don't think what they've done is a good predictor of what they will do; there just aren't many data samples.

exactly, I remember using my compaq ipaq, palm, treo, handspring devices, it was decent but not iphone 1 ability. I mean this is so true, smartphones before and after iphone. Apple did well with their execution with apps and apps on phone, no one ever did that before, sure lg prada had some design ahead of iphone but they didn't have an app store anywhere like apple

That picture doesn't show the whole picture, here's one posted on ars-technica:

Apple did well on app store & itunes but in the mobile market, the competition is getting a bit too stiff now.

That and Apple has made a very nice brand for itself. It's seen as the fancy, modern, aristocratic side of technology that anyone who's anyone is a part of. It's like going to a nice sit-down restaurant. Sure the food's horrendously overpriced, but you're still paying for the "experience".

My HTC mytouch 4G that I bought two years ago could probably still give the iFail5a run for its money in terms of functions and features, and can beat the living crap out of it, too.

Ignorant is as stupid does.

I have many friends who have been brainwashed by Apple and their crap. They've become like zombies, unable to survive without the support of their omnipresent overlord.

I'd say that I could care less if Apple goes down the crapper or not ... but a lot of (brainwashed) people I care about would be adversely affected.

Apple's definitely having problems fighting the Race to the Bottom spearheaded by Amazon and Google. If the Nexus 4 takes off, Google won't make much but Apple's stock will take quite a tumble.

I fear for some of my friends who move away from Apple. I love my android phones, but the experience is just not as easy. For us (say our average technological prowess on this forum) compared to the average american is way different. One of my friends is getting a Note 2 and some of us are already making bets of when he gets angry at android for not being able to do something he was used to having already preset on his iphone (and its probably because it was a setting he had to change in android).

I haven't used jelly bean yet, but as of ICS, I think Apple is just an easier platform to get into. Platform jumpers are always hard to get unless apple just fucks up.

AAPL has the audacity to sue a company in another country over phonetic use of iPhone, in this case, iFone, existed a few years before iPhone came on the scene. And lost... http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=...iQKJSw&usg=AFQjCNH8vFKgk2pbxfHmh8iHznkANnm6ZQ

TIMBERRRRRR!!!!

Black Line - Rapid ascent on expectations

Yellow Line - Down trend off 20% so far

Red Line - Where the stock is headed IMO...back to $520 or below since APPLE recently disappointed investors

Seeing how I bought my shares of AAPL at $8 I have a ways to go before I loose any money, but I don't intend on selling anyway.

Your right, i realized afterwards even the nexus 7's $50 charge for 16GB is too much. How much money do they profit from that additional capacity charge? $45 of the $50 charged?

I am curious to see if people are willing to pay Google $100 for 16GB, i know they will overpay Apple for it, but I bet less people will overpay Google.

Nice call.

Only a matter of time before it free falls in a capitulation sell off. People have been buying all the way down. Classic "falling knife" scenario.

$550 or below next week

Target reached.

Im not short AAPL but I do own QQQ 65.50 puts @ .55 that expire next week. AAPL will trash the QQQs, causing it to go back to $64.xx and I will make an easy double.

Sold.

Now long QQQ 64.50 calls @ .39 exp 11/9

and so it starts...

The best-selling smartphone in the world is no longer an iPhone. New data released on Thursday by market research firm Strategy Analytics finds that Samsung’s (005930) Galaxy S III was the world’s top-selling smartphone model in the third quarter this year, displacing Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone for the first time in years. Samsung announced earlier this week that cumulative Galaxy S III channel sales reached the 30 million unit milestone and according to Strategy Analytics, 18 million of those were shipped in Q3 2012. During the same period, Apple shipped an estimated 16.2 million iPhone 4S handsets, slipping into the No.2 spot for the quarter.

So when the iPhone 5 is the best selling smartphone for Q4 does that mean "so it ends"?
What's significant is that for years, NOBODY could touch the iPhone on it's own playing field. There was no single manufacturer, let alone single smartphone model, that could come close to outselling the iPhone.

Now, not only is Samsung reliably outselling Apple in total smartphone units per quarter (by a 2:1 or greater margin), but they have for the first time captured the most popular single smartphone model crown. This is merely icing on the $7+ billion profit Samsung pulled in the last quarter; again, Apple-like numbers.

The concern for Apple investors is that Samsung could be an absolutely ruthless competitor in terms of supply-chain control. Samsung is the only company in the world that can manufacture every single smartphone component in-house (screen, battery, camera, SoC, memory, etc.), so their ability to compete with Apple is unmatched.

Don't they also manufacture some of the parts used in the iphone?

Yes; for the last few years they have been Apple's premier component supplier.

Samsung's fabs are some of the best in the world. I remember when the MacBook Air (second gen) came out, people were scrambling to find the models with Samsung SSDs inside (instead of the slower Toshiba SSDs Apple also sourced).

Apple is moving away from Samsung as the competition between the companies grows, but even in 2012 Samsung is providing billions in parts to Apple. It's a big testament to the quality of Samsung's components, and one has to wonder if Apple can cobble together the same quality components from other companies (especially in the quantities they need).

I think the Maps and iPad 4 thing have hurt them more than they'd care to admit. The iPad Mini also failed to impress fans and investors. They're losing loyalty among iPhone owners.

I moved to android because of iOS6- maps was awful and performance on my 4 was terrible. Can't downgrade...can't do anything other than hate the perf. Second time I was forced into an upgrade by a new iOS, and I said F apple this time. So yeah, I want them below $100 again.
