I bought this motherboard from local shop, after i bult pc, pc started freezing sound for 1 sec every 20-40 min i tought that problem is driver, but no. Then i installed fresh win 10 pro but problems are even worse pc freezes after 2 hours of normal usage, sometimes i need to hard reset pc, somtime pc restarts without freezing. I tested ram with memtest86 and no errors are found, tried booting pc with one stick of ram, tested psu with multimeter i was getting stable 12v, tried different gpu, tried other hdd, but none of those fixed problem. So i read that this mb has bad vrm cooling, so i took apart pc and gived mb to local shop to give me my money back, they sent mb to test and after 9 days they called me and said that there is nothing with motherboard, i was speechless. And i builded pc again but that redacted is still happening. Do any one have any suggestions what shud i do now. Here are my specs but i thing it doesn't really matter so much.

CPU - AMD Ryzen 1400
RAM - 2X4 Kingston Fury 2400MHz DDR4

It could be the PSU, that is know to cause problems if you get a bad one.

Check all the connections and make sure they are secured properly. Also check for any motherboard standoffs that might be misplaced. You could examine the CPU to see if you bent any of the pins when putting it in as well.

Do you have the computer sitting on shaggy carpet by any chance? That will cause some of the problems you are describing.

To be honest I don't mess around with fixing computer problems anywhere near what I used to do. So I'm trying to remember all the stuff I forgotten about PC trouble shooting.

I'm thinking that you actually have a bad board and the store lied to you or they couldn't reproduce the problem for some reason.

RMA the board?

how are the temperatures? case, cpu and ambient.

if it gets too hot you will get freezing. It's also possible the board may need a BIOS update. I have heard of problems with Asrock AB350 boards.

It should still be under warranty. Put in a request for RMA from Asrock. They should help with this.

Try a memtest or CPU stress test to rule out those as unstable.

what country are you in?

You can always ship it to another country for RMA. I had to do that for a board a few years ago.

Serbia, i'd rather throw mb through window then ship it to another country and wait 2 years to get new board.

Had the exact same issue with the same board, apparently they had a bad batch or something but not much can be done other than a new board.

If it is a bit of a wonky fix, but this might help for the time being :
Be sure that the heatsink is properly mounted and that the cooling is functional, becuase according to this user the board freezes because the board thinks there is an overheating issue and freezes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/7ukbbs/asrock_ab350m_pro4_potential_isolation_of/

Try turning off the Temperature Overprotection setting (as well the usual settings you typically disable while OCing) in the bios, no longer getting constant freezes. Stumbled on my personal fix by keeping my HWMonitor open through freezes (after different bios versions, memtests, ram, gpu, ssd swaps etc) and always found it froze around the same temperature despite being well below safe levels. Figured there might an offset temperature bug associated with the board (beyond the 20C offset associated with X series cpus) and disabled it as a last resort. Worked for 2 of my boards, and been meaning to hunt down other owners to try it, but got busy during the holidays.

Then again, this does not give much hope :

No problem.

This issue had my brain racing, and thinking of all possible solutions. I think the best thing in this case for anybody else is to go straight to ASRock directly. They told me that a number of boards between a serial number range were affected from what their findings could see. They put me on the latest BIOS firmware before it was released, and shipped it over... It has been 6 days, and no issue yet. Though, I am aware that others problems didn't manifest for months.

I did have trouble with two boards already, from the same vendor. So, I think it's best to avoid the seller if you keep having the issue. I suspect, they are just going to recycle the same stuff they get back in hopes of it working for someone... eventually. OR, they probably bought many boards in that range of affected serial numbers.

The odd thing is that sometimes you can change the CPU and it will work, according to ASRock. It didn't work for me, but then again, it was the same model CPU.

I recommend contacting ASRock, definitely. I am in the EU, and it was many emails trying to help them to eventually help me. I actually still want to know what the issue is. I hope I can work with them to find it. If you're not in the EU, I don't know your rights, but I am sure you would be covered. It is faulty hardware, and there are many reported cases.

Hope it all works out. Please keep me up to date.
