This is my fault because I download the episodes on BT instead of watching them live. They don't know i'm part of the viewing audience.
Sorry fans of the show. Sorry Taye.
Unless you are a Neilson family it wouldn't have mattered.
Last year, I got a Neilson survey that they sent in the mail along with ~$3 cash. I was supposed to keep it for a week and fill it out for shows I watched. I usually download everything, so I just filled everything out as if I actually watched it on TV. If two shows contradicted, I just said I recorded one.
Awesome job filling out the survey.....EXCEPT, the Ratings as of now only account for overnight viewing, along with a "Live +7" report that shows DVR shows viewed within a week of live broadcast. So, a more accurate report according to you would have been that you watched no TV. Believe me, I hope Nielsen can hopefully soon incorporate ratings viewed from BT downloads, iTunes shows, etc. It would be easy with the new Nielsen technology as basically everything broadcast on TV has an embedded SID (station ID) code that shows date and time.
You received a diary that was used (probably) in your local metered market to help during one of the 4 Sweeps periods.
Depending on your city, you probably live in a market that has 500 homes hooked up with the electronic metering equipment. That market probably does not use push button "people meters" to determine the exact demographics of a person watching any given show, so a methodologist extracted the data of what was watched in the Nielsen home, demographics of the said home, and corroborated that information along with all of the diaries they sent out in your area.
Homes with electronic equipment (without the exact methodology of the push button people meters) + paper diaries sent out to folks like you = more exact idea of the demographics that a certain show pulled in.
The national 10,000 home sample has push button meters, and the top 10 local markets have been converted from 400-500 metered homes with extra diaries to 800 or so metered homes WITH push buttons (aka local people meter markets).
If your diary wasn't counted towards a local market (don't know your exact location), then it was probably a failsafe diary sent out on the national level.
Okay, I was bored :Q
