I just got an AN7, and I had the same problem, but fixed it. I had a USB 2.0 drive that was acting like 1.1 speeds.
I did two things - first make sure you are running the latest bios. I was running bios 15, and i upgraded to bios 18. That seemed to have done the trick.
Second, go into your bios, and make sure that USB 2.0 is enabled - from the bios 15 change log :
User may set the option to "enabled" in "Integrated Peripherals / OnChip PCI Device / USB
2.0 Device Compatible".
Once you get there, there is an option above it who's name i can not remember (sorry) but has the following three options - V1.0, V1.1, and V1.1+V2.0 . Make sure the last option is the option you go with, I think it is USB compatability.
Lastly, make sure that in your device manager, you have "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" as an option under Universal Serial Bus controllers. That means that XP has the support for USB 2.0
