<< Does this thing have a floppy?

I'm praying that it does since I just ordered one.

The pricing is about 172-199US plus shipping.

What the hell are you doing with a floppy?

The AT7 should be available now, and if not, they should be available by the end of the day on the 16th.

I know that atacom.com had a shipment which they sold out the day it was put up, so I preordered one from their next batch.

Most stores on Pricewatch that say they're getting the AT7 expect their shipment on the 16th or so.

And I need a floppy to uh... flash bios. Unless you can do that by CD too.

-I just ordered one and I also ordered a ps2 to usb adapter ($35 shipped was the cheapest I found unfortunately).
-It does have ir I am pretty sure.
-I got mine at A**** in texas because they have the best price on the mem I got also (PC3000 Corsair) and have decent shipping. It was the cheapest price when you include the shipping for both items.
-It supports max 8 usb 1.1 and 4 usb 2.0 simultaneously.
-I went to Realtek (the chipmaker for the sound, lan, as well as the usb and firewire I believe) and they showed that the chips are rated up to 40mhz pci bus. That is the RATED speed. I think this will help with the overclocking aspect of the board especially if they are top of things.

I ordered 512 of the Corsair PC3000, an Abit Siluro TI4400, an XP 1900+, and a AX7 and I should have it all by Thursday or Friday. I will try to have it maxed by Saturday and post some scores, screenshots, etc. to help give everybody an idea what the board and memory do as well as the vid.

I'm still not sure about the AT7 board have IR header or not because I just contact one of the technical support and they said NO!! But I really hope they're wrong about that because that's the only think that makes me buy the board or not. Also aren't AT7 board only take DDR memory for PC2700 or below, there's still not mother board chipset for AMD that support PC3000

no AMD board supports PC3000

PC3000 doesn't exist, except for overclocked DDR.

PC3300 would be the next logical step up.

There's something a little fishy about th onboard LAN, here is my experience

I installed all my parts for my new system with the Abit AT7 and input all the network configurations and tried the DSL connection with the onboard LAN. At first, it was a little slow but it wasn't very noticable. Then, it would suddenly stop working. I restarted my computer and then logged onto the internet again only to suddenly stop working again. I have repeated this process for about 20 times, there seems to be a problem with the hardware. I gave up on the problem and I am now using a PCI ethernet card. Please help ASAP. I need that second LAN port very soon.

Strange, one review raves about its overclocking ability while the other says that the overclocking is horrible. Who's right? Anyone overclocking theirs?

EDIT: Well it seems one reviewer used an unlocked Athlon while the other used a locked one, not giving him the ability to lower the multiplier to try for a higher fsb. Oh well, we'll see how these perform in the coming weeks/months.

the overclocking IS horrible, it wont let me go to 160 FSB at even the lowest settings with the highest voltage. VERY weird, im running it right now at 133 FSB at the highest speed but 1T command had to be disabled or it gets homo all over you

Has anyone else seen the AT7E? It is listed on pricewatch but not the Abit site. It runs about $140 and doesn't have Firewire and RAID. Looks like a better deal.

Black Square Thingies on the AT7

What are those black rectangle things?

On my ABIT AT7 I got, they seem to be set like a few degrees crooked. You can see it in that pic, the one on the lower left and the one on the lower right and noticeably a little crooked. Are they supposed to be crooked like that?

i think ill pass on the board

im not a big abit fan, and i dont really like integrated stuff (if the NIC is going to go bad, or the sound, i would much rather it be a pci card that i can pull out and throw away)

I like Abit (I own KR7A-RAID), but I have to agree, I don't care for the integrated stuff either. I'd like to choose my own NIC or sound card and not have to worry about them going bad on the board. Hopefully, Abit will come out with another board without the integrated stuff and drop the price?

I have to agree, leave the integrated sound, nic...blah blah to Nforce boards.

If I buy this board my first mission will be to disable the sound and LAN, so why pay for it? I know it's cheap to add these components to motherboards, still, why do I want to pay anything for something I will never use?

Another issue is only 3 PCI slots. If I add in my network card and my sound card i'm left with only 1 PCI slot all because they thought it was a bright idea to remove PCI slots because they have integrated sound and LAN.

It seems like while Abit has made a step in the right direction(a big step IMHO), in making this step they have also made a step in the wrong direction on this particular board.

I hope they release this board without the integrated LAN and sound and add a couple PCI slots. Until they do this I cannot justify buying this board.

I dunno, I think even if LAN and sound was removed there still probably wouldn't be enough space for another PCI slot. The big space hogs are the extra RAID connectors and the extra USB 2.0 headers and the firewire headers, the stuff that people want on the board. So there wouldn't be any point adding or removing the LAN and sound.

I have this board and it overclocks very well. I have a XP2100 that hits 145fsb that would only make it to 142 on the MSI/Gigabyte KT333 boards. I have tried an unlocked XP1900 that will hit 177fsb without issues. The sound and nic have been working great so why would anyone complain about their inclusion as you can disable them if required. The chances of the on-board components going bad are not any worse than the add-in cards. I have never been an Abit fan but this board has been very solid and fast to date.
