Abit AT7/ XP1900..shortly

Sup all,

I'm currently running an XP1900 on an MSI K7T266Pro2 (Via266a) with 512MB Samsung PC2700, and have had nice results. The fsb isn't stable at anything beyond 136 (1.63Ghz..the multiplier is locked), but otherwise all is good. I just acquired an Abit AT7 KT333 mobo (which I'll install over the weekend). Since this is a KT333, I'm assuming that the FSB will start at 166. (or will it defer to 133 like the Kt266a??)..and I'll be able to tinker with the clock settings. I was wondering if anyone else has had experiences with this Abit mobo? Good ones, bad ones, things to avoid..you name it. Right now, Via 4.45s are installed, as well as Cats3.1s for my R8500 64MB. Anything I should be concerned about?

I believe the default setting (jumpers) is 133 on this board.

Which is, of course, what you need for the XP1900.

Yeh, I was reading the manual, and came to that conclusion as well. I'll probably unlock my Palomino before I install this week, and see if I can get the FSB to hit 166, maybe at 10.5 or 11 multiplier. The Alpha 8045 should help in this case; I'll probably have to up the voltage a bit too. Thanks for the heads up!

I've got this board....

Is that a palomino/tbred? For some weird reason I'm only able to use 1.75v max while my palo was able to use 1.85v so this has limited my overclock. I don't know if you will have this problem.

No it would use the default fsb of 133 for your cpu. The 166 is only meant for what kind of memory you can run at (ie: 166mhz for KT333/ 200mhz for KT400). But a KT333 board wouldn't allow as high a fab as KT400 boards. Mine maxes at around 170fsb since this board only features a 5:1 divider so you would be overclocking your PCI/AGP bus at anything higher than 166. If it had a 6:1 divider then a 200fsb would be possible. I've had a Samsung pc2700 256mb and it didn't like 166mhz at agressive speeds
