Abit AX8 power on Anomaly

ok i jsut switched from an ultra x-connect 500w to a brand new ultra x-finity 600w dual rail. and now i kepe getting code 8.f. in the post code menu. that means

"8.F. - assert all power ready" accoring to the forums.....it just wont boot up and it shuts down on its own.....i had it running a few times and now im stuck again......hasnt turned on normally in the past few hours...... i hav eonly the baiscs connected. so yea...

Well ran Memtest86 overnight and no errors. Installed a new EVGA CO 7800 gt video card last month so the video card isn't the cold boot problem. And as far as the cd rom drive it was used in my intel system not a problem. Don't really have any other devices hooked up to this motherboard (look at my signature). Update************ got the Power1 connector plug working and the motherboard still fails under a cold boot. A boot after
system has been on for an hour.... usually it starts up okay.

Last night it failed cold boot twice on these checkpoints and today 3 times at checkpoint
25. So 25 is the main one. What is the procedure to set the memory command rate to 2 on this motherboard? Any other ideas tvdang7?

Just for the record i too have a similar problem and sometimes when rebooting the PC it will not boot up but in all honesty its more like 1 in 10 for me so its not really an issue but more of a mystery to me but i guess its a common problem thanks to this thread. If you need any details on the other parts of my system give me a bell.

Funny though that it seems my mobo has given up on me as i can't run my two 1 gig sticks in dual mode without BSOD's and games exiting to desltop on me. Everything ran perfect for 2-3 months then out of nowhere i was getting BSOD's and i got so many that it corrupted windows and i had to reformat. When i was back up and running i tried to run Prime95 and i lasted one second before i got an error so i tested one stick at a time and was able to run 12 hours without errors but when i put the two sticks back in together Prime95 lasts between 1 and 3 hours before i get an error so its seems conclusive that my board has given up on me. I made no hardware changes or driver changes so it has to be hardware so will be RMAing it soon when i can find a suitable replacement. What a pain

What is your system config. Are you running in a raid config? NCQ? Nforce motherboard? Value Ram or higher quality memory. 1 to 2 state command rate? A good power supply with sufficient amperage?

I read where some people have reported data corruption with the Nforce chipsets. Read about it here: forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t8171.html.

I don't have any issues at all with stability on my Abit AX8 system after it boots and suspect some motherboard problems have different solutions to them. I just ran Prime95 on my system and passed all tests.

If I had to purchase another motherboard I'd go with the ASUS A8R-MVP because it has the ULI sata controller on it or wait for the new via K8T900 solutions to hit the market after the new year. Until they get their drivers or chipsets worked out I won't touch the Nforce stuff right now.

I have the ax8 and have luckily not had the cold boot problem. Unfortunately it doesn't like my x600xt and I sometimes get booted out of games due to the card konking out on me ... it's too bad as I seriously like the layout of the board, and it's quiet!
