Abit BD7m, Problems GALORE! HELP!!!!

2x128mb Pc2100CL2
mitsumi floppy
realtek 10/100 network card
Windows 2000 Professional

Problems :
Random Rebooting during 3d operation

Sometimes no post on restart

Sometimes after random restart, during windows boot, BSOD stating that my ACPI BIOS isnt fully ACPI compliant and to download the
latest bios... blah blah blah

Also sometimes after random restart no post, followed by long beeps continueous, indicating a ram seating error, taking out the ram and putting it back in does not fix the problem, if i power down and back up 3 or 4 times, it boots.

Attempting to flash to the latest BIOS (which doesnt even claim to fix any of these) AWDflash tells me that its not for my motherboard (downloaded directly from ABITs FTP)

Temps reading out at 102 degrees farenheit, wicked cool.

All the latest windows updates installed including DX8.1 etc.

please help if you know anything that can correct these terrible problems!!!

i have the same before...

i am using the Asus P4B, i845sdram, my release bios was 1004, after month i saw a new bios 1007 that have some big bug fix , then i flash it , after i flashed it, i have the same problems as yours!!!..then i clear the cmos , and get back to safe bios , then i flashed it back to original, no problems then, then when i saw a new bios 1009 , 1 month before, problems still the same , then i saw the menu saying that those beep sounds means my ram have problems.... actually i changed my ram to normal mode, everything works fine then.........

i don't know what to tell you man...everybody seems to be having reboot problems with this board...me included. only thing is to hope abit can fix it with a bios update. it seems everybody loves the board if they can get it to boot!

Sorry to hear of the probs as I have the BD7 and have been very stable. I guess you have the
micro-xt board but that should not matter.

First....You didn't state the brand of memory. If your memory is not name brand maybe you could
borrow a stick and try that. I have found through my own trials that these latest mobos sometimes
simply do not like the memory from my old board. wierd.

The BD7 is on its second BIOS < 6H > I assume this is what you have.

Where are the temp readings coming from ? BIOS ? Hardware Doctor ? anyway, they are way too
high.

I would take the network card out temporarily and eliminate any problems possibly caused by it.

I cant rule out a possible grounding problem with the sporadic reboots. Has happened before.

Last but not least, You could have a defective board. I can't help but believe that the BD7 is
basically a good board, because I check out several big forums everyday and just do not see
very many threads with complaints. I didn't say any, just not very many

I wish you luck, and hope everything works out. Maybe ABIT will get off their cans and put out a
BIOS update to address some of the issues people are posting about. I was disappointed that
for what ever reason they have not even put the BD7 manual on their website.
