I can't seem to get the drivers in Win98 SE installed for this controller. I have the HTP366 version and everytime I boot up device manager shows both of them as not configured correctly even though I have installed the drivers from the driver disk provided. I have reinstalled windows and nothing seems to work. I have also pulled my 2940 and 3com NIC out before the install. The only thing I have in the system right now is a Matrox G400 32MB and Sound Blaster Live. This is a PIII 600E and I didn't overlcock it during installations. Most of the BIOS settings are set to default. Can anyone help? This is driving me crazy! Thanks in advance for any input provided.

Have the same hardware configuration, only Win 2K. Had all sorts of problems. Tried the highpoint drivers no change. Since I needed stablity I hooked the HD to the ATA33 controllers. Seems to be working fine. Think the highpoint leaves something to be desired.

went to System/device control, double clicked each of the Unknown Mass Storage Devices, it asked for a driver, I inserted the supplied disk with the the drivers, and it detected them as SCSI cards.

no problems

Yeah, have you flashed your bios to the latest version? That might help but I doubt it but it's worth it anyways. Definitely use the drivers from highpoint website. There are several versions of the BE6-II and they might have sent you the wrong drivers when you bought your board.

and follow the directions that pop up after you click on your correct board in the list. The directions are a little unclear, but you should be able to get it after a while.

Then go the highpoint site that nightweaver gave you and click on support, follow along.

I had the same prob - First off, definitely get the newest HPT drivers, then I had to take everycard out of my case (except video, of course)and booted windows. I had to install pci cards one by one. But after that, the board was rock solid.

It was never worth the trouble once I got it going for my board..has it improved anyones speeds enough to justify? I may get mine going again if newer bios or drivers justify the trouble..

Mine works sweeeeet.I have PIII600E maxtor 20.4 udma66 hdd on the hpt 366 controller and G400max/sblive/fa310txnic/panasonic8x4x32cd-rw.

Secret?........Load OS on udma33,then change over to hpt 366. Never use hpt drivers supplied with board.Upgrade to latest bios.Rock solid and I overclock at will.Limits.......G400max. (I will wait for the latest and greatest vid to go down in price.I don't pay $300-400 for a damn video card.That to me is absurd.}

ATA66 on BE6-2 is crap ... I've tried to install it on 6 different systems and only 1 work without a problem ..

some of my experiences:
-conflict with MX300 drivers
-not stable overclock on 650E (removed highpoint and it's ok)
-conflict with WinME Full
-DAMN WINDOWS PROTECTION ERRORS

anyway I don't think the hassle to install ATA66 is worth it rite now.
The performance is almost the same.

Err, I had similar problems with mine and a couple of friends machines. The common factor for us is the mx300's. I wonder if they could be a large part of the problem. Anyway, no one has convinced me with benchmarks yet, so I think I will allow my ata66 connection to remain dormant.
