I friend of mine has an Abit BE6 based system that will not boot. He built the system several months ago and it has been working great until recently. While he was using his computer, it locked up. When he rebooted there was a constant beep from the computer speaker (siren like noise), the screen stayed blank and the CD-ROM light stayed on. He removed and reinstalled the CPU, memory and cards with the same results - siren noise and blank screen. He cleared the BIOS and the system seemed to work OK. After a few days, he turned on the computer and it said there was a problem with Win98 and it was going to boot into safe mode. While booting, it locked up again. Same problem - blank screen and siren noise. However, clearing the BIOS does not fix the problem this time. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
