This board seems to be better quality than othe Matx boards.
And it looks like 300mhz FSB should be fine and everywhere i've looked it say PCI-E X16.

I don't know about all the issues, but the only ones that were specific (beyond "it just died") stated that they were overclocking highly while using onboard video.

I'd like to know more about this because I seriously wouldn't mind owning a mATX board that can do 360MHz FSB.

Abit hasn't been the same since those guys left for dfi. This is why I didn't buy another abit mb and went back to msi for my current build.

I've had the board for a little over a week. At stock, everything runs great and it auto detected everything during initial boot including my Patriot PC2-6400 and 2 HDD's. Finally got an 8600GT to put in it and bumped my CPU up to 333MHz on stock and it is Orthos stable.

I would say that the mobos that they are building now (since the USI investment) are great on the hardware level but that their BIOS dev is a little slow.

OK silly question time!!!

I just spent the last 3 hours reading the Hard forum post on this motherboard and this one as well. I LOVE the fact this mobo has on board HDMI and I would LOVE to use it on my 40 inch LCD. The question I have is it possible to use the HDMI connection for audio and video if I use an add in Video card like the 7800GT I have lying around? I know this is probably a big NO but it would be awesome if I could since that would mean I wouldn't have to have a separate cable for audio.

Thanx

Yes, but with a non HDCP card like the 7800GT, you won't be able to play HD DVDs or Blu-ray discs.

AWESOME!

Thanks for the response, I plan on eventually getting a HDCP card that will replace the GT but I am gonna wait it out a little while and see if stuff gets cheaper mid-late summer. If I can really use the HDMI and still use the graphics acceleration from the add in cards thats a BIG win for me!!

Thanks!

Any chance on getting firewire in this thing? I was hoping to use my 7800GT and Audigy 2 (the original!) in college for a while with it in a Thermaltake case with a E6600 and 2GB of RAM.

Edit: Any chance I could use the Firewire port on the sound card as a normal firewire?

Yes, the FireWire port on Audigy cards is perfectly functional.

Why cant i allocate 512mb of shared video?
Everytime i try it, i get corruption and major video problems.

It only allows 256mb. Wtf?

Ok this is my experience with this board...

Im using Vista x32, and 512mb onboard video won't work on Vista, maybe XP.

Overclocking while using the 256mb onboard video is flakey. Im getting 2.8ghz max with a E4300. Orthos & Super pi stable for 4hrs, but when I play Unreal 2004 it freezes. I am confused.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone here found a modded BIOS for this board based on the v14 ABit BIOS? I am looking for a modded BIOS that has a PCI lock and is based on ABit's v14 BIOS.

There was a modded BIOS floating around from some German site. It opened new areas of the BIOS if I remember correctly. I dont remember it locking the PCI.

there's one on the abit USA forum but I don't know exactly what it does (I think that it largely unhides things rather than changes any settings)

Yay! I previosly tried overclocking at with onboard video and I maxed out a e4300 at 2.8ghz. =(

I finally bought a Nvidia 8800GTS and can now overclock the CPU to 3.2ghz EASILY!

For those out there who mildly OC with onboard video, I highly recommend getting a dedicated graphics card if your want to take your OC to the next level.

Does anyone know of a program that will lower my CPU fan speed? It is currently 1650RPM and is to noisy for me

I've tried Speedfan and my cpu fan stayed the same. Seem like it didn't work.

I even disabled fanEQ in BIOS. That didn't work either. My cpu cooler is a Blue Orb II with 3-pin. I want my CPU fan to be more quieter!

Is your CPU fan plugged into the proper header for FanEQ to work on it? Also, is FanEQ adjustable? My wife's system formerly had an Abit K8N (socket 939 Nforce4) and I could fine tune the fan speed and ramp-up however I wanted.

Yes, I plugged this in the CPUfan header on the motherboard. No fan controls either.

Nevermind, anyways...I ended buying a Scythe Mini Ninja from newegg last night. OMG this fan is the holygrail for a HTPC case. I'll be running it passive too. Woot!
