Too bad about this. They pretty much revolutionized overclocking with their bios based overclocking. I remember taking a celery 300 and overclocking it to 450 on their board. I think it was a BH6.

I never owned an abit, but I'm new to the game. It sucks that they're going belly up. The more motherboard manufacturers, the better.

I had an ABIT AS8 and recently opted to get one of their mATX boards.... the SG-80.

It sucks. I hate it. End of story.

I need a better socket T motherboard...

DAMNIT! Why can't a POS company like PC Chips or ECS go under, why abit?? Those companies produce the worst boards ever to grace the earth, this is completely asinine.

I used to love Abit back in the KT7-RAID days. Ah, the memories.

Been running that board on a file server....its been great. The chipset fan has gone out though.

my home computer (the one i'm currently posting from) is running on that board!!

also had the BH6 back in the day.

have yet to build a new one (this has run me just fine the last 5 years), i've had no problems with ABIT and am sad they are not doing so well. hope they can do something to turn it around.

Still rocking my IC7-MaxIII only problem ever has been a noisy northbridge fan. Poor ABIT.

abit, however, said this is simply another step in a long term plan. "In fact, we began to outsource our very low end production, like MicroATX, to ECS [Elitegroup Computer Systems] two or three years ago," said the representative.

:| That explains exactly WHY their low end boards in the micro-ATX form factor are absolute garbage! I got my cousin has an SG-72, you guessed it, micro atx board last year as my first ABIT build and it was and still is horrendously unreliable, despite that debacle, I still went along with my ABIT IC7-G build and while it's likely the most stable board I've EVER OWNED, this "news" is very disheartening and is very likely the beginning of the end of abit as we know it. ECS makes garbage boards and with the information about their lower end micro-atx boards being made by ECS, that really explains it all...

Sad to hear this about Abit as they were the board for my first build and I've built lots of systems using their boards. I will never forget my BH6... running my P2-300 at 504MHz when the fast CPU you could buy was a 450... ahh, the good old days.

3dfx, Abit, what hardware company next that I really liked?

I had problems with a few Abit boards when I was working at Konami testing their PC titles. Personally, I use MSI so it doesn't affect me, but it's still sad to see a company lose that much in sales.

Sucks. My BH6 is still working perfectly.
We threw a load of them out at work the other day - very old Win98 systems that shipped with BH6 boards. They were all still working, but I couldn't justify the time and expense to salvage and eBay them.
