Just saw this over at the Abit forum, Abit Marketing was able to run their IC7-G sync mode at 240Mhz FSB and 280Mhz FSB in async mode. This will be THE board I am going to get next when 2.8c price come down. 2.8c and IC7-G madness

Don't get too excited - that was an unlocked 2.8 they were using.

changed multiplier to 14x to get 3.36GHz at 240FSB

Still a pretty nice FSB

Definitely my first choice for an 875P board. Just waiting for the price.....

It's a 2.8C ES, 14x is the default multiplier. They got the 280MHz FSB by dropping the multiplier to 12x, which we'll be able to get when Intel releases the 2.4C.

Yep, they did mention that in the thread, however 240Mhz with the default mutliplier 14x is not bad at ALL!
The memory is probably holding it back running sync mode, they should try 250Mhz with the 3:2 or 5:4 divider and see if it will go any higher.

Rethink the TwinLL portion as well as the 3200. ...I've heard things (from Corsair).

No, they said not to use the default SPD timings of their LL series because it's too aggressive for certain 875P boards. No problem, just go in and program your timings and you're good to go.

Or, instead of paying up for the TwinLL, buy a pair, or quartet, of plain old XMS's. Alternatively, for all you blue-freaks, HyperX's.

Just got an update from Abit Marketing over at the Abit Forum. Both of the IC7 and IC7-G come with 2 Serial cables as well as 2 Serial ATA hard drives power connectors. The board looks great!! except I donno why Abit uses a light blue heatsink fan on a black PCB motherboard.

OK.

At which TwinX512s are you looking, the 2700LLs or the 3200LLs?

2700: 1 @ $120, Twin @ $250
3200: 1 @ $142, Twin @ $298

Disclosure: I broke (XMS) ranks and snagged a QuadHyperX recently, but they both got beat up real good in the Nexus shootout reported earlier @ OCP.

Unlocked chips are usually engineering samples and you can't get them for sale unless an Intel employee or review site owner (also get them for early testing and reviews, IE anandtech!!!) sells you one.....

Many of the employees of INtels are given this chips as a perk but from what I hear are supposed to turn them back in when Intel gives them a faster chip down the line. Wingznut has had a few!!!

Oh, oops, they must have adjusted the price, they were cheaper at one point.

Nice, I'm a Mushkin guy myself.

And to anyone thinking of pissing away your money on OCZ, here's one more article backing up what AT'ers already know-DON'T DO IT.

Wheres the article?

The one I quoted. If you need any more evidence, just search OCZ in the archived posts. This is not a legitimate operation.

Several DDR Prices have gone up in the past few days - I picked up some 3500C2PT for $138 last week and now they are up to $143 - googlegear.

I have been very happy with the performance consistancy of corsair products, and their return policy.

If you want the high end, boutique memory go Corsair or Mushkin. On a tighter budget but still high performing you have GeiL and HyperX. For basic reliability and low cost there's Samsung and Crucial. Why on earth even bother with OCZ? People used to buy it against all warnings because it was dirt cheap, but other products in it's price range are now for sale that have long and proven track records.
