Abit IP35 & Antec TruePower Trio 550

Hello,

I just finished putting together a new system with the following specs:

Intel Q6600
4 GB Patriot PC6400 DDR2 Ram
EVGA 8800 GTS 640 mb
Abit IP35 pro
Antec Truepower Trio 550
Antec 900 case


For some when I turn on the power switch nothing happens. When I switch on the PSU the lights turn on the motherboard and the LED display on the motherboard reads "CC". I have messed with the power switch connectors and it appears to be in the right location. I also tried the onboard power button but still nothing happens. I've heard some people mention that the IP35 pro doesn't work correctly with this PSU. Has anyone had this problem with this configuration?

Yes, there are many people who could not POST with Antec Trio 550. Use Antec Earthwatts 500. It's basically a Seasonic single rail capable of 34A continuous x 12V. Comes with Nippon Chemicon main filter cap.

The Trio is also a single rail Seasonic built psu w/ a Hitachi 85C primary (compared to Nippon Chemi-con 85C on the EarthWatts) and the same OST RLP 105C caps on the secondary side. However the PCB layout and build quality are not the same.

Yes, this power supply does not work with this mortherboard, i had exact problem. I switched to OCZ stealthstream and it worked fine. (after 2 weeks of RMAs and crying)

Tons of people have trouble with antec power supplies. I think Antec makes great computer cases but their power supplies are junk and they're living off their reputation from 5 years ago. OCZ, FSP, PC Power & Cooling, Corsair, Tagan, Seasonic, Silverstone and some brands of Thermaltake are about the only names in the psu industry worth buying in my opinion.

The antec psu that came with my sonata case was DOA, and I replaced it with an OCZ. I'll admit that my other computer runs on a 430w antec psu that I never replaced, but that's not a system that requires much stress so it runs fine. A lot of people over at the abit forum complain about Antec power supplies, so you're not alone.

Your power supply might run just fine though. I've put together enough systems to know that you need to troubleshoot some things before you RMA the psu. First, make sure there's nothing grounding the board to the case. Make sure you don't have any screws that are under the motherboard, and make sure there are no other metal pieces connected to the motherboard that are touching the case. Specifically, make sure the metal guard that covers keyboard and mouse serial ports isn't touching the case.

I'm in the same position as you - kind of - im looking for a PS for my Abit IP35-E -- I decided on the Antech Earthwatts 430 or 500 -- but now am just trying to find a deal on them.

I paid $30 AR (Frys.com) for my Earthwatts 500. No compatibility issue with IP35-E. Cool and quiet PSU.
