And a reminder to all - do not flash using abit's flash menu - especially beta bioses; almost lost the bios chip recently - but good fortune it booted to floppy and I recovered in DOS mode. Not everyone will be so lucky.
Hope 16 makes some attempt to fix the double booting. Out of the 3 P35 boards this is the worst.
If it continues I may just move one to something else

Is this for the IP35-E, or the IP35 Pro? The directory name and the title of this thread disagree.

it should have been fixed since 14 except if you totally remove power from the mobo in which case it will do it on 1st boot after reconnection.

So I'm on Bios #15 , seems to be fine now, no double post now, and if I unplug the rig & move it to another room, it will double post again?, but only once?, the first time? Is that correct? Tia.

For IP35 and IP35-E. Waste of time to flash (unless if you are getting an E8400).

With my rig I have a power centre so I kill the power entirely. I guess I will always be stuck with this issue.

only once until you totally disconnect the power again (or do something that requires the mobo to reset the strap).

my understanding was that the Asus & Gigabytes also double boot the 1st time after power is reconnected?

I have installed it on my board with a q6600 and its running fine. No issues noted as yet so if it fixes e8xxx errors then I suggest you give it a go.

just tried the new new beta BIOS and unfortunately, the problems I wrote about in my thread haven't gotten any better:

* CPU temp is stuck at 28C
* core temps are stuck at 38C (SpeedFan) and 43C (HWMonitor/CoreTemp)
* Abit EQ still doesn't work
* Only difference I've seen, so far, is that after flashing to the beta BIOS, it allows me to select half multiplier settings (8.5, 9.5, etc) and it defaulted my E8400 to 3.2ghz instead of the default 3.0ghz...

Got it. Thanks for the info. Hope you guys with the e8400 get the kinks worked out.

Does this one show the PCI Marvell GbE NIC in the BIOS? I have a board that shipped with BIOS 15 and there is no way to disable it in hardware. I'd like to disable it just because I'm overly anal and want my Device Manager to have no red Xs in it .

One more update:

I tried some OCing of my E8400 with the beta BIOS and the results are a bit more promising:

* I got to 3.6ghz with only a tiny bump in voltage (1.24V) - Prime95 stable 30 min
* I got to 3.8ghz with another small bump in voltage (1.28V) - Prime95 stable 30 min
* I could not get 3.9ghz to be Prime95 stable - computer would totally lock up within 15 seconds of starting the test - even when increasing the CPU voltage all the way to 1.4V... either my CPU/mobo has hit a wall here, or I need to tweak other settings, such as RAM voltage (currently at 2.2V), RAM timings, NB or SB voltage (what are safe ranges for these?), or CPU VTT (what is a safe range for this?).

The biggest difference I'm seeing with this new beta BIOS - and I'm hoping it's not a fluke or my imagination - is less vdroop. It's roughly ~.02V idle and ~0.04 under load. This is a big improvement over the old numbers (.1V and .12V, respectively) and probably responsible for allowing me to get beyond 3.6ghz...

I am running with ballistix Tracer DDR2-800 1:1 with 400Mhz FSB. I bumped MCH to 1.33, cpu voltage at 1.2950, memory 2.200v and 5-5-5-15 timings. It failed running with 4-4-4-12 within 20 secs running Orthos. I bumped CPU VTT up one notch this time as well (with the MCH to 1.33) and I am running Orthos again. It failed previously after ~18mins (then VTT/MCH/CPU voltage bumps to what I wrote). So now it's fiddling times. My temps are showing ~58-60c in CoreTemp under load. No load runs in low to mid 40's on average. Running Beta 16-10 BIOS as of an hour ago or so.

EDIT: Temps are 65/63 currently under load. I may need to drop some voltage down to get temps a bit lower.

EDIT #2:just as I was typing in things were looking better it failed after 2+ hrs running...so I am tweaking voltage. Dropped memory to 2.1, lowered CPU a notch and VTT down one notch too. I guess this is going to be the guessing game with the Abit IP35 Pro for overclocking. Going to check some other forums to see what folks are setting things to.
