Right ive been having a problem with my abit ip35-e motherboard.
It doesnt seem to want to boot. It isnt brand new but apprently was in working order when i brought it off ebay.
Im just wondering does there need to be a gpu inserted for the motherboard to boot? My gpu doesnt seem to work on my other motherboard so im wonder if thats the problem. Before i get rid of the ip35-e thinking its dead.
Thanks so much
Hope someone can help me

What does "no boot" mean? If you mean no picture on monitor, then yes a working graphics card would be needed. If the problem seems to follow the graphics card, then there is your culprit.

If you mean no beeps or even no fans spinning, then there could be some issue. Could mean a short, or a bad component, or something not hooked up right.

Even if there is no picture, if you have a PC speaker hooked up to the headers you should hear the beep(s).

I had two of them at one time, they were good boards. Unless I miss my guess they are 3 to 5 years old. If you have the right processor, ram and no beeps, board is dead. I do not have the manual any more

i have one that i still run.

the ip35-e had a known "cold boot" issue, sometimes would not boot unless i used a hot hair dryer for a few moments on the board, in the area between the cpu and ram slots, near the edge of the board.
if that failed i often could get the board to boot by removing cmos battery, unplug psu and wait at least four hours. sometimes i could only get the board to boot with one stick of ram.
i run the ip35e as a folding rig so it runs for months at a time, so i dont risk having to jump thru hoops to get it booted.
there was alot posted on many forums about it, if you search you should be able to find more detailed info.

it is a good board,i like mine as much as newer boards i have, inspite of the sometime hassle to boot up.

p.s. also without the proper bios update the ip35 have a double boot. the fan starts, runs for maybe 8-10 seconds then shuts off, then beeps once and the fan starts again, then the abit splash screen would appear.

6 years old.

Heh, I forgot about that. I used to just turn on the system before I needed it to let it warm up, and then hit reset when I needed it. I didn't have to go to the extremes of using a hair dryer. Sometimes a minute of being powered on would do the trick. Heck, sometimes it would just power on fine. Weird board.

Thanks for all the replys. I have tried a few things from new psu to gpu's. Still no look and long beeps at a time (no longer then about 8secs) the hair dryer thing i havebt tried though lol. The board doesnt seem to be cold abit warm but hey i live in uk its never warm haha. I am using an oldish ram but jm not sure if its right mhz for thiz motherboard. Im going to buy some 800mhz ram to see if it is a ram problem, and will try taking out the battery and do a cmos reset for few hours. Maybe put motherboard in sun abit haha.

RIP Abit.

My IP35-e only got trumped when I built my current rig.

The board ran basically 80-168 hours a week for the entire life of the system with a E4400 @ 3.3-3.6 ghz.

Very good board outside the cold boot issue that's easily worked around.

I had a similar problem once with a friend's IP35-E that I had purchased new for him some time ago. I tried upgrading his 4x1GB DDR2, to 2x2GB DDR2-800 GSkill, and the board refused to boot. The RAM was good and working, from another board. It was the weirdest thing. So if you are using GSkill RAM, try another brand.
