Should comment this was on the official ABIT forum with the MSI comment.

This thread is however going OT and may need to be moved and renamed.

I know exactly what happened & what his punishment was - as several people here know I'm a moderator on the abit forums.

I'm not sure if the GeminII will fit. I have a Hyper TX2. It's fits perfectly on this MB. I replaced the plastic push pins with a Thermalright Bolt-thru kit. In conjunction with my Antec 900's case fans it does a good job at keeping my Q6600, oc'ed to 3.3 Ghz, in the low 50's at full load.

I personally read through some SR comments on this and other forums, I think 80% of the time he's pretty balanced and informative. But if someone start putting down the IP35/EW then I think he gets mad about it. I'm curious why was he banned here when he was Furballi? Any of the mods here can shed some light? I'm curious because even when he get's pissed I don't see him attacking anyone on a personal level. Just wondering what he did to get banned the first time here.

Another question on my mind is if he'd banned the second time because he came back here with a new name, how can the mods be sure it was the same guy ?

I'm having an issue with my IP-35E where I cannot set the ram voltage whatsoever. It always runs at 1.94 volts regardless of what setting I choose. Anyone else having this problem, or know what could be wrong?

Well, I know that SR was right many times when he said OCZ memory was crap. For one example of that, see this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2125293&enterthread=y

Me, personally, I think OCZ is crap as well, have for a long time, but I haven't been spreading that on the forums.

That said - I don't see where it's wrong to:
1) Be outspoken
2) Have favorite products.

If the mods have problems with users like that, then they have some severe problems indeed. The whole forum does.

Fixed it!

Abit's Flashmenu said that 1.3 was the newest version, but after checking the website and installing the new 1.4 BIOS the problem went away.

Okay, here's a set up I overlooked. Did you all plug in the PCI-express AUX 4pin "molex" plug? I haven't, and it's been running well, but I heard it could contribute to larger vDroop.

Great price from newegg - I bought a spare one - last time it was at this price - it sold out so quickly

I don't have mine plugged in. I think it helps power video cards on the PCI-eXpress x16 slot that don't have their own 6 pin connector. Not sure on that though.

The better question is... will the GeminII fit in your case?

I think he's admitted it to people before. Why, you have reason to believe they are not the same person?

Some of the mods seem pretty good at sniffing out banned people or double accounts.

Yes, if nowhere else, he admitted it vicariously through me. So even if they only had suspicions before, they know now. I totally respect banning someone because they've been banned before. Once banned, always banned; seems reasonable to me.

If he was banned the first time for being outspoken and, shall we say, less-than-polite in his posts...well, it's AT's forum and they can ban whomever they choose I suppose, regardless of who agrees with it!

Ironically, furballi has now been banned from the abit forums. He's batting a thousand here recently!

I'm joining the IP35-E club soon, ordered one from NewEgg with the rebate. What BIOS version is best, 12? I've heard of problems with 14, what with them attempting to fix the double-boot, and just causing boot problems instead. I don't mind the double-post myself, as long as it boots OK.

I put a Gemini II with two 120mm fans on my Ip35-E. Performance was very disappointing, actually, for all that trouble. I installed a Scythe Ninja "Mugen" that I'd used on a previous AMD build and dropped 11 degrees C in Orthos!

My advice: the Gemini II isn't worth it, even if you can make it fit. It just looks like it should

I'd go for something other and the Gemini II. I've got one. it works well but it is just so much of a pain to get it to mount evenly and NOT bend the mobo too much. Its a balencing act where if the board is bent I get much less over clock head room, but slightly better temps. All in all go for something else where you won't have to keep removing the HSF to make sure you are getting good contact.

The short answer is yes. v.12 is the most stable and fastest. If you can deal w/ the double boot (my system only gets powered down by act of God), it's the one to use. I test every one of the releases I get my grubby hands on (six since v.12 was released, two official & four betas) and always go back to v.12.

The dual boot or strapping shouldn't be a huge issue.

IF you are running phase or water it is not the best, but most are not.

three is a problem I don't know if it's only with this BIOS (12) or is it a board problem in general, but:

I have water cooling as stated in signature, and I have booting problems with it: the system does not boot when room temperature is below 15 C, right now the room temp is 11 C, and the system did not boot, what happens is that there is no double post, there is no post at all, I had to take apart the whole system several times to figure that out, just to realize that the temperature was the problem, when I power off the system, and then turn it back on at temperatures that are low than 15 C, it just does not boot, the fans and water is going but nothing on screen, just nothing happens

so I invented an idea: I turn it on, and just let it be on without posting, then after a few minutes all components become hotter, and then shutdown and quickly turn on, then it boots !

weird shitt ! wtf !

SerpentRoyal pointed out that many of these boards have the problem - they won't boot if the temps are below 63F, I believe.

I have the same problem. There is a transistor above and to the right of the CPU socket. If you aim a hair drier at that location for a few (~10) seconds, it'll boot right up. Since I never power down the PC and NC rarely gets cold enough to bother it when I do, I'm not going to. You do, however, have a defective product and should RMA it if it's a problem for you. Several who had the issue report it solved after RMA'ing their boards. It appears there was just a bad batch of transistors.
