No one has posted a permanent fix for the 520/620/Trio. Therefore, you run these units at your own risk.

2GB Kingston "N5" 1.8V DDR2 667 ValueRAM is only $44 @ MWAVE. No rebate. These modules work very well with all IP35 boards. Easy 400MHz with 2.1V/5-5-5-15-2T timing. I've seen some at 400MHz with only 1.95V/4-4-4-12-2T. Ideal for overclocking 9x or higher multi CPUs. These modules should be able to take a capable E2140 chip up to 425MHz FSB (upper limit of 800MHz chip).

You need to zero fill an old HDD or try with a brand new IDE HDD. Basic format may not do the job. If the IDE HDD is not seen in BIOS after these steps, then run memtest to check RAM. If RAMs are okay, then you have a bad board.

We know that a SATA optical drive works. Try another non-Raptor SATA HDD and it should show up in BIOS.

I found 2 programs Gdisk.exe and gdisk32.exe

But my computer crashes as I try to back up what is on the disk before formating.
I have not figured out how I will do the zero fill since I have no floppies.

I did try to do a memtest on the 2 sticks of ram and at about 10% of the test it stops but no mistakes, did it 2 times and both stop at 10% or 11%

All takes so much time... I did try to boot with a non Sata CD rom in the abit IP35-e
but they are not showing up. No Hard drive no CD Rom just the Sata DVD burner if I use it

-edit : well i just ran 3dmark with no problems, and i'm at stock voltage... so i'm guess it would have to be 400 x 8, as 400 x 9 would surely lock up on me?

With C1E & EIST disabled, CPUz & BIOS are correct. I'm running 334x9 since I have those disabled for Folding@Home anyway. Figured I'd take advantage of the slight boost a 1333FSB (quad-pumped) gives me.

Sounds like you have memory issues. Fix this problem before you proceed to zero fill the HDD. The Copywipe link above can create bootable CD to zero fill the HDD.

Connect only one optical and one HDD at a time.

I do not see any copywipe link above.
I tried every combination of drives including one HD and one optical

Thanks guys.

Some more questions. Im liking the looks of the Easy Tune windows feature, now just how big of a + is it since the IP35 Pro seems to have a feature alike?

Me= total newb so it looks neat and the pro cost way more.

TungFree, I got the same problem last week. Solved it after i flashed it with the new 14 bios.

sukhoi37, how did you flash it? I do not have a floppy drive nor disks. Did you use a CD and burned it? The only thing that works is cd or DVD, I cannot even load the os. Do you have a Raptor hard drive, also?

where did you get #14? I only saw #12. SerpentRoyal recommended the #12 but I will not argue with success.

Need a floppy if you cannot access windows. Instruction at the bottom of my 1st post. Again, fix memory problem before flashing. YOU WERE WARNED!

It is 5 am here and at 6am NewEgg opens for busuness where I will RMA my Memory Sticks. I will hold off on flashing. I did download #12 and #14 for that eventuality. I will look for a floppy drive and a floppy meanwhile. I also ordered from ZipZoomfly.com your recommended Power Supply and a Sata hard rive and a well ventilated modern case. I want that as my Xmas present to myself

1 x (273512) Antec EA500 EarthWatts series 500W Power Supply (80 PLUS efficiency) Retail ***Free Shipping*** @ $78.98

1 x (241618) Gigabyte GZ-FA1CA-ASB 3D Aurora 570 Aluminum Full Tower Case w/Multi-functional Window (Black) Retail ***Free Shipping*** @ $149.99

1 x (10005376) SAMSUNG HD501LJ 500GB SATA 7200 RPM 16MB Hard Drive Bulk ***Free Shipping*** @ $114.99

Though to the upper 48 states the shipping is free to Hawaii it costs me a bit under $50 dollars. NewEgg would ship for over $100 shippping, just for the case.

uGuru is far better/far more imo than the Gigabyte EasyTune (albeit I believe that they have just released an update to EasyTune that I have yet to try).
Neither is necessary as you can do it all in the BIOS.

hey, good writeup
i currently have a e6600 @ 389fsb (3.5ghz) on a aw9d-max, i'm building a new system w/ a e6550 and a ip35-e

wonder if i could hit the same cpu speed (or even close to it) but w/ a higher fsb with the 6550/ip35-e combo, so i'll replace my mobo/cpu w/ that one...maybe a higher fsb (450) would perform a little better than my current setup, even tho cpu clock might be lower

or maybe pair my e6600 w/ the ip35-e and yield a higher fsb w/ a 8x multiplier...

does the tuniq tower fit the ip35-e fine? (edit: nvm, a quick search answered this question for me )

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum; I have been guided towards a largely(thus far) successful first build and overclock by everyone's input. And to SerpentRoyal, you seem to have attained a sort of rock star status in this forum, you have done an excellent job of helping fellow forum members here, I would not be surprised if you turn out to be an engineer! Anyways I hope my system specs show up at the end of this post, its my first time posting here on these forums. I have read about the problem people have had with the Antec power supplies and the IP35-E. I have been running fine since day one save for two problems.

1. My case's fans' LED's have been flickering the past few days and three fans have even shut off at one pont in my case, the exception being the 200mm case ceiling fan. This was resolved by disconnecting the 120mm fans from the "Fan Only" connectors and switching them to regular 4 pin connectors. Now the fans spin at higher RPM's(albeit with more noise but that is expected...) and the LED's are brighter and no longer flicker.

2. The power supply fan does not spin at all, it used to or at least I thought so but I have noticed that it does not work now. I try to keep positive air flow inside the case to alleviate any heat in the power supply(PS) but I expect to have a dead PS in the near future.

I would greatly appreciate input regarding the dead fan on the power supply.

I had the Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
New Egg refunded the money, and I bought at Mwave The Kingston N5 ValueRAMs

No issue with Tuniq. IP35-E should be able to achieve the same level or better overclock. It's best to stick with default multi to take advantage of C1E and EIST. Maximum FSB will generally be higher, too. Core speed is KING! Use the memory divider to overclock RAMs if you want to extract a little more speed.

Then you don't need to tweak RAMs. The Antec Earthwatts 500 works very well will all IP35s. As long as you don't have a SATA Raptor, the system should POST after you've cleared the CMOS. There's always a small risk that the MB is bad. We will soon find out.

Are these fans connected to the MB's fan headers? Only the CPU and SYSTEM fan headers are speed-controlled. AUXFAN1 and AUXFAN2 run at full speed (+12VDC).

Go to page 1-8 of manual. Make sure that the red wire from the fan is connected to the +12V pin on the MB. Make sure that the black wire from the fan is connected to the Ground pin on the MB. There is no need to connect the rpm wire to the Control pin of the MB if you don't need to display the fan speed.

If your CPU fan has four wires, then you need to set the BIOS to 4-pin mode for speed control at the CPU fan header. Use CPU reference temperature for the SYSTEM fan header.

If your CPU fan has three wires, then set the BIOS to 3-pin mode for speed control at the CPU fan header. Use CPU reference temperature for the SYSTEM fan header.

Set the CPU target temperature to 50C (best for 12 or higher BIOS).

The PSU fan is controlled by the electronic circuits inside the PSU. I suspect you may have a problem with the PSU. Wait for another Antec Earthwatts 500 sale. Was $30 AR earlier this month from Frys.com.

IP35-E's fan headers are mosfet-driven. Therefore, you should be able to connect two fans in parallel to each fan header.
