I've put the damn heatsink on about 7 times now - the temp stays idle at 54 C in BIOS without any OCing - and i was reading a cooler master box it says with stock heatsink - thats normal temp in the bios.

I have the OS running at idle right now to see what temp it stays at.

I dont even know if i have enough energy in my fingers to take out the push pins - clean and reapply. i have COOLER MASTER GeminII but no fans - maybe i shouldnt have mssed with the thermal paste on stock cooler - ugh

I honestly dont think I can get better than this temp - right now in windows os when sitting idle - temp for both processors fluctuates between 37 C - 40 C.

This is using arctic paste with intel heatsink

Is there any guide to OC - or can someone tell me settings to use Abit IP35-E with E2160 I should use

my fingers hurt with those damn push pins

Thanks!

Don't force the pins out, all you gotta do is turn the pins counter clock wise they will snap out, put the pins back in, turn it clock wise to lock.

Take some time and read the manual

For applying paste, just use the line method. Arctic silver website has the instuctions.

I did read the manual - watched the videos - I gave up - I just have the paste spreadout -- my idle temp is like 40C in Windos XP.

That 37 - 40 is idle temp, stock cpu?

I would not overclock if you don't have good airflow in your case.

You do have a decent overclock cpu though.

Currently I'm using the stock HS as well but the only thing that's keeps me overclocking is my thermaltake xaserIII which is about 3-4 years old. Having a side fan directly feeding fresh air to the cpu helps greatly.

Yes that is idle temp with the stock cooler with arctic compound. The reason I bought the cpu was to OC it to 3ghz. Im not sure why the temp is that high.

Well the only way to find out is slowly up the speed and monitor your load temps carefully. Idle temp is no big deal, you're in the safe zone. If it was 50c idle then you have a problem. I believe idle temps biggest factor is your ambient temps.

Are you going to use orthos to test stability?

With this board and your cpu, you really only need to mess with the vcore settings. I doubt you'll be hitting 400FSB with that cooling, so no need to mess with any other voltages.

Cool - yeah I need some help as to what settings I need to change to OC it to 3ghz -- any help would e appreciated -- like what settings i need to change the BIOS

Yeah I def will use orthos - just need some help what settings i should change.

Even on this site there's many guides members put together on how to OC your C2D's.

In the cpu/overclocking section, there's a sticky!

Well for me, my E4500 stays stable around 3.4 GHZ with 1.4 vcore. 3.5 GHZ and up require massive amount of vcore. These Exxx chips seem to have a limit somewhere.

It's all trial and error. It's time consuming to find a stable speed.

I took everything out now - just to make sure - now mate I reapplied the thermal compound again - i tried my best to put a line in the middle - it barely looked like a line - its a dab high - I put all my force in the pins - made sure all of them came out back of the motherboard - nice and strong now - the idle temp I see now in windows - with just the damn stock cooler running is 36 C for first core and 37C for the second one.

No OCing done - i didnt even connect PCI-E to the damn nvidia - just one stock cooler -- the motherboard is out on a carton.

Does that temp seem normal or still high

Has anyone compared Abit IP35-E to MSI NEO2-FR? Which is better in terms of overclocking?

Also can I achieve a 8 X 475 = 3800MHz speed on my E6750 easily on one of these boards? Which one will overclock easily?

Most of the IP35-E / IP-35 boards are capable of a 500 FSB no problem with a relatively minor bump in MCH (north bridge) voltage. How it compares to the MSI board I can't say; but it's a darn good board!

I recently started to Overclocking my Q6600 B3 (i know no g0 ) and i've found some issues, that is quite puzzling.

1. My board sometimes wont boot up at all, i dont know if it's too cold or what. But when i check the bios settings the system/pwm temps are around 15-19c while the CPU is stuck at 43C ?

2. My coretemp reads at 25-31c idle then 39-40c on load while running orthos or any other stress tests.

3. my ABIT temp monitors are giving me different temps then coretemp, which do i follow?

other then that, its a solid board.

Q6600 @ 3.2ghz 400x8
IP35-E - Bios 12
2x1GB OCZ PlatRev2 800mz
8800gts 640mb Super Clocked
OCZ GamerXtreme 700watt

Has anyone received this board from newegg in the past two weeks? I was wondering what bios they are shipping. I have this board and a e8400 on the way and I wanted to make sure it will boot when it arrives. Don't have another Intel processor so I guess I am screwed unless it comes with the latest bios.

Newegg hasn't had IP35-E stock in more than two weeks. Their next shipment is supposed to arrive late next week.

I received the board a little over a week ago from newegg (got in on the sale) and it came with bios 13. I slapped in an 8400 and it recognized it just fine. I know there were some huge issues with 13 but so far my board has been very stable with just a single dual boot when I booted it for the first time.

The only problem I have is not being able to see my temps, even with coretemp. I changed the FSB to 400 so I am up at 3.6 but since I can't see the temps I have not want to stress it with prime, especially since I only have a cheap CM Hyper TX2 cooling it.

I plan to update the BIOS this week with the hope that I'll be able to see the temp, I assume 15 is the one to go to?

Spike, thanks for the info. I plan to be in Florida this weekend to update to Intel for the 1st time since my OC Celeron days of 2000.

I received this board from newegg about 2 wks ago. It shipped with bios 13. I had to load it up with one stick of DDR2 in DIMM 4. I underclocked my e8400 to 2.4 to flash to bios 15. It wasn't stable at stock. Works great now.

Can you see your actual CPU temps now? Mine keeps trying to tell me my cpu is idling at 8-12c...
