Abit IP35-E: Wake on Lan (WoL) help!

I have a Abit IP35-E and the onboard ethernet is connected to my Buffalo router running DD-WRT software. In the BIOS, I enabled the "Wake up by onboard LAN" option... I booted the PC into windows and then went into stand-by.
From my laptop, I accessed my DD-WRT router software and attempted to wake my PC, but nothing happened. I already tried using a Windows program called Fusion to wake it, but nothing happened.
Aside from enabling WoL from the BIOS, is there anything else I need to do?

You can use a packet sniffer from here: http://www.depicus.com/wake-on...ke-on-lan-monitor.aspx
This will tell you if the packet is getting through to the PC.

I see some option in device manager for my network card wake on capabilities...it is currently on 'magic packet & pattern'...any ideas what that means or what it should be?

I believe mine was set to the same, one other thing to check is be sure the option for the network card to wake up or bring the pc from standby is checked.

If this hasn't been solved by the time I get home, I'll try to take a look at it. I have the same board and I know it works on WOL (with Windows XP at least).

Mine was set on "magic packet" (not & pattern match). Not sure what the pattern match means.

I was wrong on my initial post as this board is on Vista, not XP. Under Device Manager of the network chipset, look under the power management tab and see if "Allow this device to wake the computer" is checked.

This setting serve two purposes.

If the Magic Packet is Not checked it allows the computer to get out of Sleep state when there is any traffic at the NIC "Door".

When Magic Packet is checked it allows Wake On LAN (WOL)

Wake On LAN is a specific situation to Wake Up a computer that is Totaly Off through the Network by sendind a specila Network Packet (AKA Magic Packet).

WOL has nothing to do with waking out of Sleep, the terms are many time confused by by the vendors as the Tradition in End-User consumers hardware requires.

Please Note that this aspects of the Network Card doe not work in some systems corretly because it needs cooperation of the NIC Drivers.
Many Vendors of lower level NICs do not care about doing these aspects right.

Actually it works better on Laptops than iot does on Desktops. In Laptops, in order to conserve Battery, the Sleep features are more carefully designed.
