Mwave has the IP35 (middle flavor...not the Pro, and not the streamlined ip35e version) for $113AR + shipping.

The link says $138-$20 rebate, but the pdf download is actually a $25 rebate.

This is an excellent board, overclocks with the best of them, runs very cool, uses exellent capacitors, and appears to have very few installation problems compared to asus and even the gigabyte p35 boards (from what I've read that is, based on my research of these p35 boards lately).

For more information please check out the abit ip35 threads in the Motherboard forum.

Does Abit have better custsomer support than Asus?
I've had no luck with Asus (either by e-mail or phone) or their forum.

That when you push the mobo too far on an OC so that it farks on a boot, you get stuck double rebooting to reset the BIOS to useable values and get back to an OS... at least that's what I read.

Double boot at startup. Doesn't matter if I run at 100% stock (reset BIOS) or @ 3.46GHz...same double boot at startup. Has nothing to do with overclocking. Same problem with many P965 boards and the Abit IB9.

Wait so your saying if I restart, the mobo will boot up 2x and then reset it self to the non-oc so I gotta go back and change it?

What is a double boot? It goes to windows twice? Or it posts then resets and posts again? Does it reset all bios settings? Man why would anyone want this board if it does that?

The IP35-E and IP35 will start-stop, then restart during cold boot. This is normal behavior with P965 and P35 chipsets. The system is checking for hardware configuration during startup. There is no start-stop if you select RESTART from within windows. Some manufacturers will modify the BIOS to eliminate this behaviour. We've already requested the implementation of this mod in future BIOS release.

The start-stop-restart sequence adds 14 seconds to the boot time. BIOS is not affected by this behavior. The Abit IP35 Pro uses a different BIOS and does not have the start-stop issue.

So this is a feature. So this is still a good deal on this board?

I don't like a lot of stuffs that Intel is pushing on us, like eliminating IDE support for PATA drives. I'm not happy with the long boot time (+14 seconds). But since I don't keep my HDD for more than five years, the boot issue probably isn't that big of a deal.

The current BIOS is very stable, even up to 488MHz FSB. Note that there are many factors that can limit your ability to achieve high FSB...CPU, RAM, and CPU cooling.

i went in on this deal when it was new a few weeks ago. got my board, swapped it in place of my intel dg965ry, reinstalled xp pro and now im up and running.
on one hand i really love the board so far. very sexy, heat pipes and blue and awesomesauce. easy to overclock too. tonight was my first time OCing and i managed to get 3.5 GHz from my pentium D915. still trying to get the 1066 FSB. we'll see.
anyway, on the other hand, i fsking hate this boards included temp/voltage monitoring utility. it does its job alright, no gauges or anything, just some small numbers that show voltage and a few temps. the numbers are small. but the most annoying is that the skin on this ap looks like a stupid hummer h2. god i hate those damn things. who thought that would be a good idea? someone who subscribed to the "americans are stupid and love hummers" mentality. sigh.
anyway so until someone releases a utility for this board that has a mature skin (i really loved the intel desktop monitoring utility on my g965) i'll just have to settle for speedfan.
anyway, even with all my griping and ranting, i do actually like this board and if i could go back in time i'd buy it again.

Hehehehhh. Beauty is in the eyes of.... I don't even use Speedfan once I'm done with my tweaks. About the only sign of higher temperature is when I hear the faint sound of three medium speed 120 x 38 mm Panaflos ramping up (>45C CPU temp).

thanks. been looking to convert over from my opty system

btw, what memory and speed would you recommend for this board for a good oc??

A bit out dated question and a bit outdated response coming.
back in the 440BX motherboard days I had a motherboard blow some capacitors. Turns out it was not a abit only problem, but any motherboard manufacturer who used those capacitors. I emailed Abit, informed them of the problem. 1 day later I got a call from them with a RMA number and a shipping label emailed to a friend so that I can print it out.
I tracked it, it arrived there 5 days after I sent it out, 2 days after they got it I got a email from them with another tracking number. 7 days later I had a new RMA motherboard of the same model, but different capacitors.

Now I do not know if they are still that good, but that was my experience with them. I must say I was quite impressed. Out of 12 abit motherboards, that was the only one I had issues with...
Well short of one which I did not bother with a RMA as it was my fault for breaking the thing doing a mod.

Depends on your choice of CPU. 7x multi CPU will need DDR2 800 or higher. 9x or 10x multi CPU will work with quality DDR2 667. I use these "N5" Kingston DDR2 800 ValueRAM. Look for KVR800D2N5K2/2G on the box. Slowest stick is good up to 580MHz @ 2.1V and 5-5-5-18-2T.

so..if I decided to put in a E6750, I will need DDR2 800 or higher ram. If I decide to go with the kingston DDR2 800 valueram, will I get a decent oc or will the ram that jjsole recommend be better for this processor??

It's always YMMV when you overclock RAMs. I've tested four of these Kingston kits. All were good up to 580MHz @ 5-5-5-18-2T. You should be able to push that E6750 to 3.5 or 3.6GHz with these RAMs. I believe the E4300 or E4400 offers a better value. Most will reach 3.2GHz if you have L2 stepping. Save your $ toward 45nm chips next year. There's not that much difference between 3.2 and 3.6GHz.
