I got an Abit IP35, with the latest BIOS.

I put in a Q9550, and the BIOS reports 200+ F temp, and 100+ C temp after boot, it isn't actually hot at all though. I disabled the temp/reboot settings, but i'd prefer it if that wasn't mucked up like that. Any idea why?

A little background, I put in an E8400, and temps were fine 25C or so is what the mobo read, but when I put in this Q9550, it does not read the temps correctly. I have had this Q9550 in my EP45 gigabyte board and it read the temps around 26C no problem...I have reseated it a few times to double check, but nothing, it ALWAYS reads 207F or so(probably the max or something).

I have noticed, I can only put in 1.8V memory in this board, is there anyway I can manually set it to accept 2.0V-2.1V? Then put in the new 2.0V memory?

Intel changed the way that the internal CPU temp sensor worked hence th erroneous reading.
have you tried the EO stepping beta? http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m630a.bin

afaik you shouldn't have any problem installing higher voltage RAM in an IP35, voltage adjustments should be in the BIOS.

I had the same problem with my IP35 E, and found that the problem was that the heatsink wasn't properly attached. One corner of the heaksink was loose, and it wasn't making good contact with the cpu. I ended up ordering some metal fasteners.

Open your case, and start your pc with someone pushing down on the heatsink fasteners, while you watch the bios temp screen.

Don't think that is it, it's been on for 6 hours now, no problem...but it still posts as 200+

This will work with an IP35? The basic one, not the E, or PRO. Should I install it?

I tried putting in a E0 stepping Q9550 in my IP35-e last week. Earlier it was running a C0 E8400 @ 4.0 without breaking a sweat. The highest I got it to post was at 4.4 but due to limited time I didnt squeeze every last clock out of it.

I updated to the latest bios, I think I had the version just before the last one. My Q9550 posts but will bluescreen two known good windows loads. No worries though, I decided that Im just going to put the Q9550 into my main system using a MSI P35 Neo2 F/R (P35 Platinum), and give the IP35-e the 65nm chip (E6420) which took it to 3.4 overnight ORTHOS stable no problem.

Edit: I should also mention, that when I put the Q9550 in my MSI, with the final BIOS version available from MSI, that the BIOS would not let you set a 8.5x multiplier with EIST off. I thought, hey the half multipliers are broken. Well actually it turned out you can set 7.5 and 6.5 multipers, but not the 8.5 that the Q9550 comes with.

I flashed to a hacked BIOS for the MSI, on a german MSI forum I found through google. Turns out a well known modder released his v4 BIOS for the board. Many posts voiced his success with some stating that it has been rock solid for months on end (v2).

After the flash and a CMOS reset, got the 8.5 multiplier and don't have to run EIST. I also believe there was an additional setting that appeared, but I can't recall what it was nor am I wanting to experiment with it. @3.63ghz right now, waiting for new psu to push this thing to the limit.

I don't really care to overclock though, haha I just want it to run stable, so BIOs sees the temps correctly.

But yeah spike, we had the same thing I guess, my E8400 worked fine, BIOS could check temps, but the Q95500, no go. It won't see them. But if I disable the temp check, it works fine, and wont reboot...

Any hacked versions out there to fix this issue? What is that one linked by heidi?

I just picked up a Q9550 to replace the Q6600 in my IP35 Pro. I'm guessing I am going to have the same problem if when I install the chip. Also I'm sure I'm running a really old Bios and will need to update either way. What Bios should I flash too, the one linked in this thread or verison 17 from the Abit site?

I read the guide here http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...2397392&postcount=2023 on how to flash from USB but I don't understand the part at the end where he says "don't forget to edit the RUNME.BAT and ABITFAE.BAT as stated above"

update:

Ok so after looking around some other forums, it seems that people recomend running the beta 18 bios, I found them on a random non-abit website. So I guess I just need some help with the flashing, I still don't undestand what that last line means.

Your link does not work.

The only thing I am worried about, is what's the CORRECT bios flash for MY bios...I have the IP35, not pro, or E or anything fancy.

Hmm when I refreshed the page, the site didnt work for me either maybe its down. I have another question if anyone knows. The beta bios I downloaded was M629B18.zzz. I thought it was supposed to end in .bin? Do i need to change the extension?

This thread saved my ass. I just got the q9550 and was already running the v18 bios but the link up there must a v18 part 2 because now I don't get bluescreens and I have access to the cpu multiplier finally. So Thanks!

How the heck are you guys flashing? When i try it says no .bin file or wrong part number. Got the flash file from a-bits site. But the BIOS from here won't work on it. Need the "HOW" you're flashing the BIOS.

Just an FYI. I'm still using a floppy cuz I'm 0Ld $k00L like dat

I don't like flashing USB. Anyways the OTHER files ned to put on a floppy. The awdflash file is what I'm talking about.

Ok used the windows flash utility. Flashed to beta BIOS. Still won't post a Q9550. Popped it back in P45 chipset board. Works fine.

Wait a sec, is this beta bios above more recent than the 18 posted on ABit`s website and dated 2008/05/30?

I just got a C1 q9550 for my IP35 (plain), and having a lot of trouble o/cing it. Does not seem to get even to 3.4GHz with some high volts.

guys, plz help me!

i bought an Q9550 with e0-stepping. i have a abit IP-35E installed, the latest v18-BIOS. since i'm running the CPU the temps are amazingly high and i often get bluescreens. furthermore my memory is clocked to 813 or 816 MHz, not to 800 MHz as usual.

i think the bluescreens are caused by the cpu-change: seems like windows has to be reinstalled.

as far as i read this topic you all have a beta-bios and every link i find to download this bios is offline. i also wrote to abit but there is no way to receive an answer -.-

so pleeease somebody contact me! sorry for my bad english - i'm from Germany and even the Fuhrer needs this BETA-version :ugly:

What temps are you actually getting?

You could try reseating the heatsink. What thermal paste are you using? What heatsink?

the temps are about 108 °C (it shows in BIOS), which is damn high. but i think this is only what BIOS is saying. the real temps must be normal, cuz i actually can use my pc properly.
i use some standard-intel-paste delivered with the boxed-CPUs from intel. got a zalman cnps 8000 (or so) cooler on my processor.

but as far i understood you guys u solved the problem with a beta-bios from abit, didnt you? i just need this bios-version. i also read that some ppl with the same issue flashed their ip35e with the v17 bios and the problem was gone. is that true?

if nothing helps.. i just gonna buy a damn new board via ebay. there must have been some reasons why abit got screwed that bad
