ABIT KG7 and SBLive! Issues.

I've been really happy with my Althlon XP 1600+@2000+ on my ABIT KG7-RAID and had to reformat WinXP last night. The only complaint is the damn SoundBlaster Live! conflicting with the VIA Southbridge. I've been running this setup for about 6 months now and the sound latency issue wasn't too bad. I installed the new 4in1 driver, the AMD AGP drivers and the new SBLive! drivers but now, the sound crackling problem is worse than before and don't remember doing anything different in the setup of XP. Do you guys have any suggestions? Better yet, does anyone else have a KG7 running a different sound card without issues? Thanks for your help.

I may be way off the mark here and I know that creative hogs the PCI bus causing that latency problem, but are you getting sound crackling in Windows or in some other application/game?

It's both in windows and in games. Sometimes it makes a weird grunt sound too...

I have a KG7 with a Soundblaster Live with no problems.

The only time I ever had problems was while I had it in slots making it share an IRQ with a network card. I moved it to another slot and it's been cool ever since.

If your KG7 is the non-raid version, the 5th pci slot doesn't share an IRQ with anything. Try it there. If you have the RAID version, I'm afraid I'm not much help

Same here .... KG7 with soundblaster Live and never have had any problems whatsoever. Try switching around the card a bit; that should solve your problem.
