ABIT KR7A-RAID and XP2200?

I have an Abit KR7A-RAID mobo and I recently purchased an XP2200 CPU after researching and discovering that Abit offers a BIOS update that specifically supports XP2200. I downloaded and installed the new BIOS before removing the old XP1900 which was running fine. I installed the XP2200 and cleared the CMOS with the jumper. The XP2200 wont boot. I tried lots of things and no success. Tried the XP2200 in a cheap Amptron MB without even updating the BIOS and it worked fine. Anyone else had problems with XP2200 and KR7A-RAID?

Funny I'm in exactly the same situation as you. Upgrading from xp 1900+ to 2200+ and the system wouldn't even post. Can't get into the bios at all. Cleard CMOS and still no luck.

You need to unlock the CPU or send your board into Abit for modification. Abit will charge you $25 + shipping.

So, in light of The BIOS update page... it seems as though the last few updates added suppport for the XP2000 and the XP2100 also... should I expect that these won't work either???

I purchased a KX7-333R, and when I got it, it maxed to a XP2000+. I downloaded the BIOS flash ( Award & Execute ) from the ABIT web site onto a floppy, shut down the computer, put the flopy back into the A drive, & turned the computer on. It booted to the BIOS download, ran the update, and everything was perfect. It had also updated the BIOS to allow an XP2200+ to be installed. You may want to try to download onto a new floppy (from another computer) and try again. Make sure there are no interuptions during the download and the installation process - be patient, some of the triggers are a little slow to start. Print and read, then re-read the instructions on the ABIT web site. BIOS flases cane be intimidating, but most go well if you're patient and let it run the program to completion.
