Abit kt7-raid fan on chipset is making weird noises.

The fan on my Abit KT7-RAID mobo on the chipset is going out I think. It is making a fluctuating noise, like it is speeding up and slowing down. This noise gets very annoying. Any how, how do I replace it? Is there another fan that is better that I could replace it with? Or is there a way to fix it? Any suggestions and/or comments would be appreciated.

I have the KT7 (non-raid). In an effort to eliminate some of the noise coming from the six or seven fans in my case, I simply disconnected the fan on the chipset. I remember reading a review somewhere that stated that the fan was overkill since the chipset didn't really get all that hot anyway (I could be wrong). Either way, I haven't noticed any sort of stability problems since disconnecting it, so first I would just try disconnecting the fan.

Ya, I've got the KT7 non-raid (just under 2 weeks old) and the fan started sounding like a gravel truck for the first few minutes. Other than the connector that goes to the mother board, the fan is pretty much a standard 486 CPU cooling fan - you can get them at almost any computer type store. Just clip off the connector from your fan and solder it on to the new one. The only thing to check on the new fan is that the mounting holes are countersunk the way the one's are on the original fan - there's not a lot of space on the heatsink to screw onto, so they have to be real close to the exact length.
