Abit KT7A + Hercules 3D Prophet II Pro = No video on boot

The card worked for a while, when I first installed it. When I powered down the system, and didn't turn it back on until the next day, I would get no video on boot. It simply does not work anymore, no matter what I try. There is no video at all at boot, and there are no beeps from the motherboard either. I'm sure the card is firmly in the AGP slot. I hear that the Prophet II Pro cards don't work with KT7 motherboards, but I have one of the newer cards, its serial number is 5058481. Also, it worked for a short time, long enough for me to bench it and get over 8000 3DMarks. I called tech support, and they said that I could mail the card back, but before I do it I want to know if anybody has been able to find a way around this problem...please help, I'm tired of using my TNT2 Ultra!

I feel your pain. I got the same problem. I have a KT7A-RAID with a Hercules 3D Prophet II Pro 64Meg and it will not boot either. I have requests to lots of tech support but no replys yet. In fact I just put the card in yesterday. The board has been running with a 2 meg PCI board till the Prophet got here and from the first turn on its never worked. I took the card down to a friends house and it works on his and his old 16 meg Banshee works on my board. Sounds like a compatability problem. This sucks.

I cant rember the fix but i had the same problem, but if you start to boot and wait about 5 seconds then Ctrl Alt Delete to restart it will boot like it should at least it did for me.

As i recall this was a problem on the first Prophet Pro boards and not with the newer boards, i went back to a Radeon so i havent keep up with the problems with the two, but ill try to find out for you guys. Also go to www.rage3d.com and check out there forums.

I will give that a try but I am not sure thats going to work. See no video at all comes up. I can hear the computer booting up and the harddrive loading windows. Just no video. The bios does not even come up. If I turn my monitor off and back on the monitor gives me a message that I need to check connections that the monitor is working fine. The fan on the videon card is running so power is getting to the card. I have the motherboard layed out with only CPU, memeory, and power connected. My old PCI video card comes up and a 16 meg banshee AGP works fine also. Just not the Prophet. And the Prophet works in other computers that are not KT7A.

Yea nothing would come up when started the computer,but wait a few seconds and Ctrl Alt Delete and see if it comes on.

Well I couldn't wait I had to try it before I left. AND!!!! Nope didn't work. I built this system with what I thought was the best. Tried to find all the latest info. I even had a Sparkle 350 watt power supply ( AMD recommended ) installed. So its got to be a compatability thing. Well now I am out the door will check back later. Thanks

Do you remember if this problem was just Prophet Geforce cards or all NVidia Geforce2 chipset video cards?

Just with the very first Prophet's, thats why the other guy in this post stated that they told him to send the card back, i would guess they would replace it, or maybe flash it .

These two components aren't compatible. I had both a KT7 and a Pro and they just have issues.
There were a few articles about this back in November. Go to this page and scroll all the way to the bottom ...then scroll up about 6 news stories and you will see what I mean. Scroll up (from the bottom) til you see a picture of the Hercules Pro.

As crazy as this sounds, just keep restarting the system over and over.. might take 20, 30 times, but it will come up.. and after that, never shut off the power

I have an abit kt7a-RAID and a prophet II Pro 64MB, and while i did experience a few select issues at the beginning, all is well now... At first, after I'd do something in the bios, no video would post. Eventually, that problem just went away (i have no idea what I did), and I could get into windows. However, I then got a strange horizontal line scrolling down the screen every once in a while. After I untwisted the fan wires on the heatsink of the GPU and reseated the Video out module, that problem was fixed... It was a pain in the butt, but It finally works.

whoa this thread exploded. anyway, I solved my problem. I got very pissed, so I shoved my video card in the slot (probably more violently than you should treat a 300$ peice of silicon), cleared my cmos, yelled something profrane at the computer, and turned it on. wa-la! it works...
Im guessing my yelling had little to do with it, but the clearing of the cmos did. prmartin43, whats the serial # on the back of your card? if its 5058430 then you should call hercules and have them send you a new one, but if its 5058481, then you may be able to fix your problem...

Oh yeah, I was gonna ask... my Prophet is a 5058481. Does your guys have a module for the TV out, or is it soldered on the PCB. I can pull mine out and put it back in. All the other pictures for the Pro have been soldered on...

heh it makes me wonder if threatening hardware will make it work. sounds like a good thesis for a paper...i bet i could pass it off. i have an 8481, and mine is a daughterboard too, its not soldered.
