I know it is TigerDirect, the only problem I have ever had with a rebate with them, is when I did not get the rebate in on time, the rebate expires 4/30 so time should not be an issue.

The street price for a 2800 (can't find 2900 for sale) is around $100 shipped, so $130 + $15 shipping for a 2900 + ram + motherboard doesn't sound bad.

I ordered one, so I'm crossing my fingers on the rebate service.

That particular board needs to be flashed for compatibility with the 2900+ - that's where most of the problems originate. Even still, it seems to be a hit and miss - google brings up many unsatisfied customers.

Why would they sell a board with a processor that requires a flash to be compatible? If that's the case, TD is dumb. :roll:

I don't believe all the boards need to be flashed, just some (who really knows?). It seems that they ship both new and older revisions of the board - hence the reason you have some satisfied and some unsatisfied customers.

It's not just a rebate, it's TWO rebates ($30 for the RAM and $40 for the CPU)

They are both processed via onrebate.com, don't know if that's good or bad...

You can get very, very similar deals from globalcomputer.com. There are also other motherboards listed there with the same RAM/CPU, like the ASUS a7v600-x or Soyo KT-600 Dragon 2.0. GlobalComputer.com's website looks like a virtual twin of the Tiger Direct site....

I think I'll save the paper work on this one carefully.

Global's website isn't a virtual twin, it is an identical twin. Tiger Direct, Global Computer, and Dartek are all subsidiaries of the Systemax Group. Dartek recently became the B2B portal for Tiger Direct.

The Abit seems like a good KT600 board. The latest BIOS "added new CPU support", probably Sempron or the OEM grey market processors like XP2900+.

However, you can get Foxconn or ECS KT600 boards with the same features from Chiefvalue.com for under $40 shipped no rebates. The Abit probably has better overclocking features, but other features are the same.

Got my stuff in, at least TD ships quick (and packages well!)

Board/RAM/CPU work great, running FC3 right now, 3940 BogoMIPS. Audio was detected but didn't work... but I've had several systems do that with FC3 and worked after some tweaking. Network, SATA, and everything else is OK driver-wise.
edit: I used alsamixer to turn up the master volume and PCM, and unmute[\b] both, sound is 100% now. So this motherboard gets two Linux thumbs up!

I sent the rebate, supposed to get it 7-14 days via PayPal, if it comes on time I just may become a TD believer...

Deal is still in stock at TD and the sister sites.
