Abit SE6 boot problems

I am having irregularities with an SE6 on bootup. The memory checking keeps looping, only to freeze and lockup everything. During the looping <esc> doesn't work (to stop memory checking) and <del> doesn't work (to enter BIOS settings). If I select the quick post option it doesn't happen.
Seems like a memory problem, but there are false starts also. A BIOS problem?

Have the sw bios installed.... no difference
cpu PIII 700e @ fsb 100
128 meg PC133 Corsair CAS2
No cards installed yet (using onboard video until I get everything else configured)

Exchange the board.

My board would reboot when doing an extended POST (the RAM count). I tried six different DIMMs, all the DIMM slots, etc. It worked fine when not doing the extended POST.

I then started getting spontaneous reboots while in Windows. Sometimes I wouldn't even make it into Windows.

I'm RMAing mine. I'm also getting an Asus CUSL2.

Thanks to Bonkers and IceStorm.
Bonkers, I did clear the cmos and that seems to have helped. (In that it doesn't lock up during the repetitive memory checking loops.

On the extended POST it loops through the memory checking 3 times, then goes ahead and boots up. It always did do ok if memory checking was disabled.

So, IceStorm, should I still RMA?

quit fooling with the bios
clear coms again
then let it boot and see if memory loops
if not then screw around with bios
if so
try to rma it

I just tried clearing the CMOS on mine. No good. It reboots itself when it starts doing the RAM count now.

If yours works, great. You have to do what you think is best. I'm within my 30 day return policy, and I do like the board, I just think I got a bad one, so I'm hoping the replacement works out better than this one has.
