Abit TH7II-Raid Post Code "C1"

Just received Abit TH7II-Raid. Installed (2) C-RIMMS and (2) 256 MB RIMMS (Samsung p/n MR18R082GBN1). Getting Error Post Code "C1" when I power up with a long beep which repeats. I have reseated the memory and C-RIMMS several times using the manual's diagram. I also wore E.S.D protection while assembling the system. I am using an Intel "Northwood" 1.80A CPU. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it the "Northwood Support" BIOS problem ?

I get the same thing.

Currently just have ram, video card, keyboard and mouse installed.

Using the power button onboard the mobo to turn it on.

Post Code hangs at C1. Seems to go C1 > AF > C1 then hangs.

Don't have the speaker hooked up so nut sure if I get any beeps.

Don't get any video output though.

Have a P4 1.6A and TH 7 II with 2001 sound.

Got both from Newegg last week.

Bump up for some help.

Hmm,

reading some other forums it seems maybe that code might be related to an incompatible video card?

Which is strange since I'm using a Radeon 8500.

This problem does not sound like the version 37 BIOS problem. I believe people with this problem were reporting a code 19, and this seems to be limited to the P4A 1.6 GHz CPU. An admittedly small sampling of other buyers suggests that boards delivered with the AC2001 sound are coming with the version 38 BIOS (and the ICS -03 chips). If you haven't already been there, you might want to visit the Intel--Abit Motherboards forums over at overclockers.com. There's a lot of good information on TH7II boards posted there.

Well, as an update:

Used compressed air to blow out all the memory slots and also checked to see if memory contact had any junk on them -- one did.

Replaced Ram and crimms -- really made sure they were seated well.

Booted up -- bios thing did its post codes -- C1 -AE - AF, etc all the way to the dreaded 29.

Looks like I got a board with the bad bios.

Working on getting a new one.

Glad it's not the memory.

Hi guys

I had the same problem with my 1.6A Northwood running 151x4 RAMBUS @ 2416 on my TH7II.

Ran stable for 3 weeks when I bumped the case. Screen froze. Rebooting gave me the same repeating beeps w/ C1 error.

Mine turned out to be a loose PCI card, but I did all the reseats of memory/CPU first and was puzzled that the BIOS showed a 'memory/L2' error.

Try pulling EVERYTHING down to bare board/CPU, then replace all your cards. It worked for me.
