DDR is "Dual Data Rate" much faster ram. look for a board that supports DDR ram if you buying a new one. the A7M266 should be good if you have a tbird that runs at 266fsb. RAID is a setup that lets you transmit data faster over ide(or is is scsi or is it both) anyway its not been shown to improve "real world" applications very much.

The difference is price... A A7M266 is about $50 more then a A7V133.... either AMD 761 chipset (Asus A7M266) or KT133A (KT7A or A7V133) I recommend Asus. Asus is about the only real choice with 761... but you dont get multiplier controler... between A7V133 and KT7A I would go A7V133... it performs slightly better, its super stable, and Abit just has high RMA rates.

i thought i had clarified this but anyway;

tbirds come in 2 major variants: the 200mhz fsb'ers and the 266's. one is a dubble pumped 100mhz fsb, the other a 133. 266 chips are newer, and thus a bit harder to find, and a few dollars more expencive. they have better memory performance though(more bandwidth)

if you can find one buy it, and get the a7m266.

bko, the asus A7M266 is a great board. I've got one myself. The only problem is that I can't change my multiplier for O/Cing. If you have the time (and care about overclocking). I would wait until Asus releases their new ddr board and look for reviews.

Also DDR ram is somewhat harder to find and more expensive... I went with the A7V133 for now and will wait till the DDR boards have newer and better features... BTW I have the Abit KT7raid also and its a nice board but lacks the stability of the ASUS boards... IMPO...

A7V133... well worth the $$$

Is there any diffrence between ddr ram and sdram??

What does the amr drive do??

I might wait for the newer asus boards... but it'll just cost more...
so i would just have to wait till the prices drop...

Is raid really use ful if i get a wd 30-40 gb 7200??? or mayb ibm =)

The difference between DDR SDRAM and normal SDRAM is that DDR is faster--up to 20% in real world tests I believe. You need a mobo designed for DDR to use it, otherwise go with normal SDRAM.

AMR drive? do you mean the AMR slot? It's like a PCI card slot except shorter and with less features. You probably won't use it.

RAID needs 2 or more hard drives to use, so if you are just buying one HD you don't need to worry about it.

IMHO, the A7M266 rocks...
