Does anybody know what sound card will work on an ABIT KA7 or KT7A. The KA7 has a via kx133 chipset and the KT7A has the via kt133 chipset.
It is all over via's website that these chipsets on these motherboards cause a variety of problems when trying to use pretty much any Creative Sound Blaster or compatible soundcard. You suffer various problems not limited to - lockups, blue screens, the worse crackling sounds through the speakers you've ever heard or just no sound at all.
I have had this problem on the both motherboards with SBPCI128's, PCI512's and Audigy. Doesn't matter which slot the card is in, what other cards are or are not also installed or what operating system. I have tried numerous times under Win98SE and Win2K.
At this point, all I want is a sound card that will work on either board. I also tried a Aureal Vortex 8810 which a retailer swore to me would solve the problem... same exact issures.
I would rather not buy two new mother boards just to get my sound to work...
Anybody familiar with this issue? Any suggestions or card recomendations?
I have tried to get to Abit's web site for two days now and it seems to be unreachable. Thier site is normally a POS anyway but you can usually access it.
Thanks for your help.
