Able to plug my Wii into The 22 inch Acer Monitor?

I just got this monitor, and for some reason I thought id be able to plug my wii into it. I know I can buy a DVI adapter so ill be able to plug the video cable into it, but what about speakers? would I be able to do anything there?

The Wii only outputs up to 480p in analog.

Since it only has a VGA in and a DVI in, you would need one of the two. HDMI will also work. Look up HDMI, DVI, and VGA convertors for the wii and tell us what you find.

Ofcourse, you could always buy an expensive (100-150$) converter box.

I'm sure there are some component-vga converters out there, they don't need to be specifically for the wii, just something that converts male component into male vga.

You'd need the component cables for the Wii though, they aren't too expensive though.

converters usually work vga -> component and not the other way around

Bass Bomb, there are PC to TV converters and also vice versa. If you can convert one way you can convert the other, both signals are purely analog.

That said, it depends on the monitor. Some can accept 59.9hz signals as well as a variety of signals (Y-Pr-Pb, RGBHV, etc). If your can handle that you don't even need a converter box. All you would need would be this:

My friend has a wii hooked up to his LCD monitor the same way although he has a Dell 30" so it can internally take a variety of signals, don't know about yours. If your monitor doesn't support 59.9hz you'll get frame skipping. If you can't take Y-Pr-Pb then your screen will be mostly purple or pink, lol.

I have my Wii hooked up to my LCD monitor. Component out on the wii to component to vga transcoder to vga in on monitor. And RCA to 1/8" minijack audio converter cables are extremely easy to find for the speakers.
Vdigi sells component to vga transcoders. One caveat, only progressive scan games will work over vga and you have to enable pscan in the wii's options. This may mean hooking up to a tv (if you don't have a tv with component in, the green component cable into the yellow video input will give you a picture that you can use to enable pscan in the wii options). Most wii games have pscan, but there's a few that don't.

I agree with the above poster. I used a vdigi component to VGA transcoder to hook the wii up to my lcd monitor, until I bought an HDTV about a week ago. As for audio, I got myself an RCA (white / red connector) to 3.5mm pc speakers adapter. Thats really the only way you can do it.


P.S. after looking at the vdigi site, they now have a wii connector cable that goes directly to VGA. You should be able to use this to go from the wii to your monitor. Of course, you still have to worry about audio.
