I did also mention the fact that I speak for MYSELF, not for DPC, so I don't understand why you react like this....
All you TA members said that we're welcome (at least, when we behave ourselves)... I didn't swear at anybody, I didn't post in a "flame" kind of way... but if you feel like that... I'm sorry...

At last: I'm not filled with tears... it was just about that extremely large amount of 500m/week.. and that number isn't correct... so ... end of topic I gues...

i think many would leave, but not because they can't be #1 anymore, but because dan would be enough for first place in RC5.. poeple would go support their OGR, .... friends to get TA on top there to

I'm not sure what this whole trout thing is refering to , but I'm intrigued with Dan's assimilation possibility. If the plan goes through, and Dan decides to do the RC5 burn-in, I think it would be cool if he used the name &quot;The Crack House - Team Anandtech&quot; . If any RC5 cracker deserved that title it would be someone with access to that much fire power.

As for the burn-in affecting competition, me thinks the DPC's have been doing too much crack (pun-intended). Anandtech vs. the Dutch Power Cows may be the heavyweight bout of the D-Net competition, but there are hundreds of other sparing matches going on everyday. We on Team BeOS love whooping ass on the Linuxnet RC5 team, just as I'm sure Team Germany loves whooping ass on us. When I started on RC5 Team Evangelista was the &quot;unstoppable&quot; team. The Russian Team looked like they were the only ones who could catch em. (So much for that theory). Anyway, I think competition will manage to survive whether the great burn-in goes through or not.

I guess I can relate to what DSmarty said throughout this thread because I faced the same problem ealier on. Brief note: I am not taking sides, just sharing my thoughts.

It all happened a couple of months back when the Phantom Flusher started dumping so many work units to some of the people in TA that I can't keep up with the competition. My competitor at that time was RaySun2Be. I managed to surpass his work units for 2 days and the next thing I know, wham! bam!

I was kinda discourage initially. Seeing that I took 2 months to catch up and the next thing I knew, I was stampeded.

DPC has come a long way from their humble beginnings of a couple of hundred thousands blocks per day to the present two million plus blocks. I guess their spirit of the competition must be so great that they have managed to rally their team members to get where they are today.

I am impressed by their coordination and their sheer synergy to get everyone involved instead of getting a few heavy hitters to increase their output rate.

And seeing DanC coming up with an &quot;unfair advantage&quot; seems well, unfair.

But mind you, if I had access to the kind of raw processing power, I would, without a doubt, use its naked power (who, in a right and sane mind, wouldn't).

Ultimately, I agree with the use of these multi-processors servers since it will shorten the time to break this encryption that has been running for over 3 years and we are only 31% done.

But nevertheless, we have to respect the both parties point of view in this matter and not got overboard with the comments.

Just remember, distributed computing is EVERYONE's project and all the major competing teams like TA and DPC are actually &quot;mini-teams&quot; to a greater &quot;team&quot; whose objectives are to complete S@H, OGR, RC5, GammaFlux, etc.

I really wish this thread would die, which is why I have delayed posting in it again until now.

I'm sick of typing out an entire reply and NOT sending it because I don't want to be rude, but I hate the DPC, I'm sick of the immaturity you are bringing to our forums, and I really hope you understand that these forums are meant for fun, and to get along with one another. My advice is to compliment and get along, or get lost. To those of you who are acting your age, thank you. I've seen a total of *1* person in the past week from DPC that wasn't acting immature or acting agressively against TA.

DanC is going to burn-in the computers, period. It's not a mega-flush, it's a mega-install. It's going to happen. Sorry DPC, but there's nothing you can do about it. If you have a problem with it, don't complain to us, complain to dnet. Better yet, quit your immature complaining period. We didn't whine and moan in your forums during the MF6, we took it like maturely and discussed it in our own forums. Why can't you do the same? Do you feel the need to act immaturely and agressively, therefore making yourselves look like fools? You're doing one hell of a job of it.

GT may have been a little rash in saying that most of the DPC's visiting us over here are being brats. There's really only one person that I've noticed is being, well, a punk, and that's MrAtheist. He's getting on my nerves, and that's not an easy thing to do
